Wow, that's nice! A month and a half paid vacation per year, where daheck do you work at? Are you able to save unused vacations? Say, if you work 8 years can you take off for a year?

Both full time and part time employees get full benefits for their family at my work.

    We have separate.

I get only five weeks paid vacation per year. If I don't take the time off, I get paid for unused vacation time at the end of the year.

In addition, 7 paid floaters (I pick what day off I want and get it paid)

Because of my seniority, I get two additional floaters (total of 9)

Sick leave is accrued hours. If I don't call in sick for a year I will get $4xx (not to exceed $500) bonus - depending upon if I am part time or full time. (I'm full time)

Part time employees don't get shit.

No, we have to use it by the end of the year and if we don't we can turn it in at cash value

Only thing part timers get is a higher houlry wage to off set the fact they have to pay for their known benefits.

Kicker is they can pretty much work when needed.

What kills me (and takes up our benefits) is that you get a 16 year old kid who works 16 hours per week onto the payroll and he is eligible for full benefits (medical, dental, vision) and our work will pay into it ($8 per hour per employee) and they never use it because they are covered by their parents. When contract negotiations comes around they tell us that they cannot increase anything at all, but rather would do take aways because our benefits cost the company so much. I would say that about 15 percent of our workforce are young kids who only stay through out high school and then leave. Most of them aren't even aware that they HAVE medical.

It depends. But most employers choose to do the hourly accrual-better for the employer because it avoids having people leave right after they get their lump sum of time off. But if he's a part timer, who knows.

That is pretty awesome. I was eligible for health insurance after 30 days, fully covered. If I had a family they could go on but they cover only a % of the cost for non-employees.

I get ten vacation days a year. No idea what sick days I get, I never really use them except for when I had to have surgery a couple months ago. If I work an hour OT, I earn either 1.5 hours pay, or 1.5 hours comp time which I can use as vacation days.

My last job was like yours, 07trd4x4-- I had to schedule ALL vacation days off in January and there was basically NO way to get a day off with only a few weeks' or months' notice. In January I'd be asking my friends if they planned on getting married that calendar year or if they might want to go camping in August. lol It sucked.

The worst is when you have medical that says it will cover stuff. But then you get a bill for 5-25k for stupid stuff. I have had my medical changed 3 times, and it keeps getting worse, and I work 50-70 hours a week, and you get 1 week of vacation after 2 years. It seriously sucks because it destroys your body and health, but at least you get paid. Then I had a customer that hires mercenaries for middle east and pays $1k a day. To me that is sounding like a good option these days...

    If his parents have coverage.

Benefits cost most companies about 30% of salary. Sometimes more for smaller companies and less for larger companies (they might choose to self insure for example). A lot of the cost depends on the health care portion. And as we all know, that's not getting cheaper.

Hey Babytruck, when looking at road bikes, the frame size is usually expressed in cm, that's the frame size right, so if I'm looking for a frame size around 19 1/2 it's about 50cm?
