It's good for the tourists. Most of the locals go to Great Basin Bakery. Great Basin has much better bread. Schatt's is good if you want to get some desert type baked goods. Their cannoli's are worth a visit if the lots not full. Also their sheepherder bread is very good but it's not really a bread. More like an over doughy pizza crust.

When did you go to quarantine? I'm tempted to just do it to get out of going into base.

Modesto area folks... Here's another opportunity to help some people that could really use it.

Screenshot_20201118-091119_Facebook.jpg I'm loaded up with some stuff and ready to drop it off on the way home from work. I'll be running through between 4:30 and 5:00 hope to see others help.

    20201119_200301.jpg

Just bring a couple cans of beans if that's all you can do. Literally, ANYTHING will help, and be very much appreciated.

I'm going to Doyal to do a drop off. There's 21 families that lost homes just yesterday. Yes there was rain but nit till around 1pm. The proceeding winds were from 35 to 67mph. I know some folks near there so thats why I'm going. Dont really care if my wife's pissed. These folks lost all befor a holiday. I've been there!

This food drive is asking for cans, not cash. Second Harvest is probably the oldest and most respected food bank in this area. If they want cans and non perishables... I'm not going to over think it... I'm going to give them what they are asking for.

Often... foodbanks will tell you the cash will go farther because they have all their overhead and administration costs they need help covering... Which is the EXACT reason Red Cross is a useless bullshit scam.

The answer isn’t always quite so simple. But you’re right, most food banks ask for what they need but what’s good about cash is an organization can bank it and use it as needed and where they need it. Both Redwood and Second Harvest will take cash and maybe use it later on or for events like the fires when need is greater. Plus, cash doesn’t spoil.

Cash also allows charities to spend closer to the need reducing the need for big logistics teams.

There are several charity watch sites that really help understand how money gets spent. I look for low administrative overhead. So executive salaries, fund raising, and so on. The less spent on overhead, the better.

I spent a few years volunteering for United Way campaigns where I worked. I believed some of the bullshit they were telling us until one day, we found out they had a huge fundraiser that cost more than it raised. More facts came out after some of the higher ups left. Never again will I give to them or any like them.

If the winch control is like a Warn, then maybe their remote will work?
