Fucking Land Cruisers stock stuff was always out. I carried kits for both a cordless and a cylander hone and rubbing alcohol in the glove box. Oh wait its a pocket.

    Who ever does?

You might want to think about the other crap that goes along with the clutch while you're there. Check the condition of the flywheel, etc. Depending on where the slave is, you might want to just replace it-you're there and the parts are cheap.

    Good luck with the job.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Lol... Oh, believe me I spend a lot of time wrenching on vehicles. Love being in the garage, and make time to do it.

I don't think you understood the comment. I don't have time.

My son and a battle buddy have to report back from leave, in Colorado, on the 4th... today is the 29th... that would give me 5 days to order the parts and install them. One of those days is a Holiday, one of those days is a Sunday (parts don't move on those days) and one and a half of those days is drive time to get to Colorado.

I'll pull something off... I always do... but it still begs the question of why does this shit always happen? lol

Not enough to have a build thread.
I don’t know what all you can see, but get it up on jack stands and see if there’s any movement of the slave when someone pushes on the clutch pedal, just to rule it out. Rotate all the tires by hand and maybe by the driveshaft to make sure nothings seized/bad bearing. Then look at the clutch itself if you can. My old landlords jeep grenaded the clutch but he was still able to drive it. When he got it to me, I hopped under And was able to pull a whole chewed up friction pad from his clutch out of the inspection hole

So... airfare from SFO to DEN is $92 per traveler, roundtrip.

Looks like I'll be doing a Subaru clutch... it just wont have to be RIGHT NOW. lol

Thinking I'll buy him and his buddy a plane ticket, with a return trip on President's Day weekend. He'll have a 4 day pass for that. He can fly home and drive it back then.

Anyone have a recommendation for a body/frame shop in Oakland or nearby in the East Bay? Neighbor ran into my parked truck and I'm looking to use the insurance money for a rear bumper upgrade. Would normally just get a DIY bolt-on, but since their insurance is paying I'd like to get some professional eyes on it and see if there's any hidden damage.

As a follow up - anyone know anything about Performance Auto Body in Chinatown?

    @theesotericone @FirstTimeFirstGen @ian408 @Robmonster117 @nDub and @ whoever else wants to chime in.

So, walk me through this a little bit. I'm just trying to wrap my head around this cutch stuff and you guys obviously know more than I do, because I'm a blank slate on manual transmissions.

I'm looking through, to get an idea on parts. Looking at Sachs clutches at AutoZone (online). There are a bunch of different options for 08 Impreza Turbo AWD.
    I'm seeing
    Outer 8 7/8 inch,
    Outer 9 inch,
    Outer 8 1/2 inch...
    Inner 1 inch,
    Inner 7/8...
    optional oversized bearing and sleeve
    :violent:

I'm assuming this is something I'll need to measure when I get in there? That's a bitch. Or is there a way to know what I'll need? Seriously, I have no fucking clue on this.

Next question... I'm also looking at doing the slave cylinder, pilot bearing, release bearing, and possibly rear main seal while I'm in there. Is there something you think I need to add to this list?

Yes, I know this hijacks a TW thread to Subaru. But I'm thinking people can learn things that can be applied to their Tacoma, from the conversation lol

See if you can find a Subaru parts website. Size you need may depend on providing the VIN number.

Autozone part search is not going to be alot of help. Sounds like Subaru will have will have what you need. That list looks pretty complete. One other thing you might need is the spline clutch alignment key if the kit doesnt come with it. Another thing to inspect once you dive into it is if the flywheel needs resurfacing. My guess is it will be fine but its better to be sure

Woke up and tried to make coffee. Well, when you work in the woods all week and aren't able to make sure there is coffee, your kinda handicapped.
Glad there's a starbucks here still and only a minute and a half away.
