Finding a used 1 ton that already has 4.88 gears and a locker is another option.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

If you go the ECGS route (which I definitely recommend them) and you don't mind driving slightly south of Modesto, you wouldn't have to pay someone to swap out the 3rd members.

If you want to go strictly through a shop, try giving a call to The Rear End Shop in Riverbank.

ECGS is a great route. I swapped my diffs on a friday night not too bad of a job at all and I was solo, a second hand would make it go that much faster.

Thanks all! I appreciate it. Looks like I’ll plan this accordingly and go the route of ECGS. @El Taco Diablo thanks for the offer! I more than likely will take you up on it.

    Right on man

I'm positive we can get a few hands on deck, and make fairly short work of it. I've got a bit of practice doing them over the last couple years lol.

Anyone have a set of fixed back Corbeaus?
    Wondering your thoughts.
@cbechtold - yours are PRPs, yeah? Can't remember if they recline or not.
@betterbuckleup - didn't you swap seats not too long ago? You too, @Fernando ?

Those are the reclining ones though.
    They've been great. Quality craftsmanship

Yep. PRP Enduro Recliner w/ Adjustable Headrest. I definitely recommend get reclining seats. The fixed backs are nice, but not that much fun in a daily.

Be aware how high the hip cushions are. They can be a pain to get out of when driving a daily. The PRP Enduro Recliner look like a way better option for daily driving.

Anyone interested in OME 881’s with 2k miles on them? I need to upgrade to 883. Or anyone with 883 would like to trade? 1st Gen. (Still in the truck).

    If you're doing 33s 4.88.

35s or 37s (auto or manual) do 5.29, @Fernando and @Blackdawg and I will tell you this. The install is very straightforward. I did 4.88 on 35s and kind of regret it, but ecgs is what I used and I did the core swap. It's not hard at all man, don't pay a shop, especially for the rear, I removed the transmission for the front because I figured it was easier and wanted to look at the rear main seal which was leaking. I went 4.88 with 5sp because I plan on twin cases using a 4.7 gears set and wanted lower rpm on long drives but 5.29 is better for normal driving with 35s. Honestly you can do the rear with little to no mechanical aptitude.

Thanks for the positive encouragement. I plan on staying on 33s. You know what…I’ll just muster up and attempt this. I’d probably go the core exchange route with ECGS. I talked to them and they said if I do it soon I’d get it back around mid March as they are backed up to mid Feb with orders as of this week.

This is the route I went. I'm happy. I didn't go through ECGS tho.
