Sounds like your cabin air fan. Pull the filter out and see if there’s a leaf in there or something. If your not sure how to do that, look in the owners manual for cabin air filter replacement.

Yikes. Mine was super loud so I opened it up and found a handful of leaves. Cleaned them out and good to go.

I drilled a couple small holes and used zip ties and some stainless mesh (had some left over from gutters) to cover the gigantic hole under cowl that lets leaves in. So far so good.

I kept finding myself with the truck but no tape measure. Here’s what I got for measurements, though the distance from the t-slot to the bed cap was a little tricky to know for sure since I have a shell mounted. I measured that in a couple locations and it appears to be 2 5/8” - 2 3/4”.

For the width I got 57 1/4”. I took the measurements in front of the wheel wells.

    Sorry for the delay!

No problem at all. Thanks for doing it!

Looks like it’s pretty close in some spots.

My width is 57” and the t slot top to the top of bedside ranged from 2.25 to 2.75 on the tallest part.

Did you measure from below or above the t slot?

I measured from the bottom side of the t slot, as best as I could estimate. I measured on both driver and passenger side in a couple spots, but only in front of the wheel wells.

Okay perfect. One more question don’t go measure this though. You’ve already done enough.

If you had to guess is the bed rail (or width of the shell) closer to 2 or 3 inches? I need some steel for it to mount on and can’t decide if I should get 2 or 3 inch wide for the shell to sit on.

It's definitely more than 2" but I don't think it's a lot more. I used a 2 1/8" bulb seal on my cap which seemed to be a good fit. I think my cap uses a 2" wide base.

You might check in with folks on this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-diy-wedge-camper.604686/

They probably have all the measurements

Ha! Apparently I have quite a few doppelgangers around the area, although that guy has way more color on his chin than I do.

I see used shell Craigslist ads from what looks like a giant lot of them with the location marked as Santa Clara. I’ve emailed them a few times but they never reply back (which makes me almost not want to deal with them). Anyone know where this place is?
