It’s an ARE Camper Shell. Always looks like it is closed. It’s on El Camino at like Lafayette ish. There is a Snugtop dealer in San Jose off of 13th. I doubt it’s that place tho.

I've talked to the guy on Craigslist flipping the shells. It sounds like he works for Shells Plus and stores them there, but sells the used ones on the side separately.

Looks like the place. Good find.

I might try that Snugtop dealer. I’m not having great success with this guy via Craigslist.

I think I’ll try to stop by shells plus and see if I can get them to let me meaure something t.

I go by there a couple times a week and I'd swear they're never open. Or at least they never seem to be there.

Wouldn’t be surprised with lack of response from them.

I've been having the worst luck with packages lately. Box shipped out of South San Francisco and I'm in the East Bay. What does USPS do? They send it to Sacramento then on to LA then to Riverside where it now shows out for delivery. :bananadead:

    WTF? lol

I had rockauto order ship FedEx from the Midwest to Los Angeles then Guam then get stuck for a week in the Tracy vortex.

    It was wild.

    WTF? Guam?!

I know that Tracy vortex... Have no idea wtf FedEx is doing there but I swear I've had shipments arrive/depart/arrive/depart/arrive in Tracy for days on end before they finally end up in Hayward before being placed in Out For Delivery status.

UPS does it as well. Package sits in Sunnyvale for a couple days before going to Santa Clara who sits on it for three days before delivery.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences from USPS orders from the east coast 2 or 4 days usually nothing special, and nothing huge but no complaints . Just my 2cents!

Ordering from partsouq, I've found FedEx has been the more reliable option. UPS Air takes a day or 2 longer than FedEx. Have yet to try DHL with them but DHL domestic, forget it. I can't stand them.

I’m starting my first real project since moving to the Bay Area. I’m from Utah where metal supermarket was the place to get cut steel. Cheap and free cuts.

First question is that still the place to go around here? I saw there was one here in San Jose. Not sure if there was a better place.

Next one I need a piece of tubing bent. Im going to sort of copy this guys build. I can cut and weld no problem, I just can’t bend something.

Is there a shop or a person that can bend a tube sort of like this? Im thinking just 2” welded tube.

I would like to see what that front end looks like today after miles of hard abuse. My thinking is the cab and radiator support need to move separately from each other, flex. My fender liners cracked out years ago and I made a similar support but with far less metal (mostly strap and angle). But I connected to the cab using bushings so there would be flex. It has worked great. Radiator support is solid, fender liners, while ugly and cracked again, have been solid. I finally broke the welds from the fender liner to the cab last year. That is still a work in process to fix.
My suggestion, if you're going to do the above tube fender liner, mount it with bushings from the liner to the cab.

I was thinking the same thing. Seen a bunch of trucks with the fender aprons separating from the firewall. There's so much flex on the front end between the cab and core support

Maybe I am missing something but it’s all solidly connected from the factory. That tube thing in the pic only goes from the cab to the front.

I’m basically just replacing this section. Sorry for the crappy artwork. On my phone. Red is remove green is replace.
