Lol....there's someone wrong with that weather station. If you had a 200mph wind or gust your shit would be gone.

I still kinda chuckle because this is a weak version of what we get everyday in the northwest.... but I guess this place isn't built for this.

There's a difference between being at the lake where the weather station is and being sheltered behind trees.
And I'm sorry my internet penis isn't as big as yours.

I think that station is borked ;) Look around at the other stations near it and their gusts aren't anywhere near that. Then look at the data for MSTAN2 for a few days. There are a lot of gaps. So either that puppy goes offline a lot or it's got some faulty electronics. Imma go with the latter

Don't be fooled, my friend. Let me ask you this. When he asked about the dog, was he holding a leash or a spatula?

But seriously....you didn't get a 200mph wind...that shit would be all over the news. 200mph winds topple forests.

All I know...its windy as hell. They closed down 395 yesterday to all trucks, rv's and trailers because of wind and this morning I was woken up early to the house creaking and cracking and shit falling on the roof.

It's a tad blustery out today.

    From KRON:

Gusty winds have knocked over a big rig on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, blocking both eastbound lanes. The big rig was heading east along the bridge's mid-span around 4:45 a.m. when heavy winds caused the vehicle to roll over, according to the
California Highway Patrol. The CHP issued a Sig-alert for the collision. Cars are passing the scene of the crash on the roadway's right shoulder, CHP Officer James Evans said. The bridge's lower deck was closed to big rigs as of 5:15 a.m. No information about possible injuries was immediately available.

I would guess that to be gusts of 40+

MESOWEST says the data is also suspect.

OPD has been under fire for it's 'Shoot first, ask questions later " community relations policy. The community, especially the African-American community, has no reason to trust them nor should they. The two villains are OPD and Alco Sheriffs, they never met a civil right they didn't violate. They seems to think that throwing everyone in jail for a week even when they know full well the DA will not charge, is going to set people straight. It just makes them hate the police even more. Couple that with a systemic lack of employment which (by some estimates), is hovering around 40% demographically-speaking, an historical breakdown of African-American family structure, a (currently and historically), corrupt and totally inept local government and you have Baghdad minus the car bombs and RPG's.
Add to that, in the Mexican culture it is natural not to trust or talk to the police.
So yeah, they should be taken over but it would only succeed is slowing the officer involved shootings which would be a good thing, fixing the rest of it? Christ, the problems are so huge and have been there so long, it will take years to fix.

None of us live IN the worst areas but the violence spills out into our neighborhoods. Those two girls that died in front of my friend's house were shot 36 times, that is indicative of a broken society.

Last time I was up and it was blowing like a mofo, we went to Sugar Bowl. They sold us half day passes at 10am. LOL.

Because atm, at my age, I don't want to have another house payment. I simply cannot afford it. This neighborhood wasn't like this when I moved in. It became like that when the home loans were screwing everyone, the houses in my court started to sell cheap and those who make money on the side doing illegal things moved in. We used to have drive bys on a weekly basis. My kids know to duck and stay away from the window on instinct.

It's not fair to characterize it as a policy. There are a lot of officer-involved shootings but the majority of those are the result of weapons pointed at the officers. I'd love it if they'd hold off and try to settle the dispute before it got to the double tap. But that's not really realistic.

Then there is the problem gang, domestic and citizen-on-citizen violence that the police and fire department just clean up after.

Oakland has some pretty big problems and I think it's fairer to say there's enough blame to go around, not just the police force. And Alameda County spends a disproportionately large amount of money trying to fix those problems too.

True Ian, most are, but not all of them, the ones that result in unarmed citizens dying at the hands of the police along with things like the Riders scandal has left a huge rift between the citizens and the police that is not easily fixed. Oakland has something like a dozen lawsuits against it for civil-rights violations going on at any one time. Alameda County has the largest county jail of it's kind in the nation, Santa Rita is a supermax disguised as a county jail, that's where the money goes. They threw my ex's daughter in there for four days for DUI without any breathalyzer or BAC evidence, people who misdemeanor shoplift get thrown in there for a week. Please don't think i'm just citing a couple of examples just so i can say it's systemic. It is systemic and everyone knows this. Incarcerating the population for shit they know damn well will never have charges filed is wrong and makes everyone hate them.
The problems that led to this situation have more to do with a systemic lack of economic opportunities and a breakdown in the social fabric of the community, police wrongs, out of control killings and mistrust of the police are just the sown harvest of these deeper issues.
