I haven't even left work yet.
The good news is, I put 100 miles on the truck with the new gears. The mindnumbing part of the breakin is complete (no driving over 55 mph, for every 15 miles you drive, stop and let the diffs cool for 30 minutes, blah blah blah)....I can actually drive the speed limit now.

Not really. I helped my dad drop a motor out of a VW Bug when I was a kid but I'd hardley call it helping. I more or less just fetched tools, kept the beer flowing, and lit his joints.

I just read through the factory service manuals before, during and after. Armed with an impact wrench and a stack of papers, it really was not as hard as one might think.

Close, but no. I saw a lifted silver going into Bowman Lake (as I was coming out), but it wasn't you. Took a trip up to Webber Falls then took the back way by Jackson Meadows and Bowman Lake to Hwy 20, then 80 and home via Auburn.

Hey Jerry (JLee), I tried getting up to White Rock Lake yesterday. Made it only 5 miles (out of the 11) before hitting the snow patches across the road. Good thing you took my advice and didn't try to camp up there at the end of June.;) Some of the drifts were still 3 feet deep! And I still had a long way to go uphill before getting anywhere near the lake.

I almost went! Couldn't swing it though.

I'm heading up to the Tahoe area tonight for the weekend, my girl scored some free tickets to Lady Antebellum at Harvey's on friday. We'll be staying in Truckee, should be a fun weekend!

Well, I was on the shady side of the mountain coming in from Webber Lake. Maybe coming in from the other side is more sunny (passing by Catfish and Tollhouse Lakes)? There were snow patches everywhere in the shade. Maybe it'll be possible on the sunny side, but who knows. And maybe if I'd made it over those patches, it would have gotten better in the sun it was kinda deep and I wasn't going to risk it alone). But then we did run into a ranger at the Jackson Meadows Camp Store that said it wasn't accessible yet. I would think it would be accessible by Labor Day. That's another month of warm weather. They said recently that it appeared 90 percent of the snow has melted just this month.
