Is this normal or do I need motor mounts?
    I think I do.
This started right after hitting the gas to get out of a hole or 2 on a steep, tough trail when fully locked.
Now it clunks when starting and shutting off. It also grumbles in reverse.
    64k on ODO. Regeared to 4:88s. 2.7l and A340f 4 speed auto.
    Thanks for your input!

Looks normal to me 64k is not many miles for a mount to go bad. Can’t hurt to replace though. Go with some poly mounts if you are thinking the engine has too much movement from the stock rubber mounts.

I second that, looks normal to me. Stock mounts allow for a fair bit of movement to reduce engine vibrations felt by the occupants.

Aftermarket skid plate cross member spun a little and was making contact with the tranny when it moves.
Totally explains why I felt it the most in the driver's seat.
