I have a 2015 prerunner access cab with v6 67,000 miles. A harmonic noise occurs at 47 mph and goes away at 50 mph. It then come back at 72 mph and goes away by 74 mph. Is this normal for like Tacoma’s?

Impossible to know with video/audio. Could be a lot of things. Wheel bearing comes to mind

I bought the truck used, just put new Michelin tires on. I would like to drive a similar truck and see if it sounds the same. (Harmonics nature of the truck). Wheel bearings shouldn’t be bad, it’s had a light service life, but you never know. Kind of suspecting the driveshaft carriage bearing too.

    That is a pretty truck:thumbsup:
As far as the vibe goes, that's a tough one. Hold the truck at the speed it resonates at and see if you can isolate it.
    Fwiw...mine doesn't do that...but I'm 4x4.

Thanks, now I think the noise isn’t normal. No vibration at all, just a low deep like light tire roar. Only last through a 3 mph range. If I have the radio on you want even notice. It’s just when the cab is completely quiet. Doesn’t matter what you do in that 3 mph range, accelerate, drop a gear, steer side to side. It remains consistent and unaffected.

Try greasing your u-joints and see if it's better. Just spit ballin' but it may be your u-joints.
If not, wheel bearing is the only other thing I can come up with.

Mine used to do that. I couldn’t ever find anything worn out. Been that way for 60k now but I also can’t hear it now due to more aggressive tires and a flowmaster :notsure:

Ok. The last two responses have it. I doubt the u-joints have been greased, sounds like a really good solution. Haven’t had a grease gun in years, ordered one yesterday, and if that doesn’t fix it, then that’s just the way it is or the problem gets bad enough to detect.

That's a good point. If it's something serious, eventually something will break! Then you can fix it.

When my front wheel bearings went bad, the hum/drone noise drove me nuts. It was the worst at highway speeds (60-75) I thought it was my muffler wearing out or some crazy shit. Thank god I ended up changing them. Night and day difference.

Mine sounds the same no matter the speed, it just gets a little louder as I go faster. Can you post a video?

Great looking truck, but I might be slightly bias. Our trucks are almost twins.

    Here’s mine...

The hum/drone is perfect description. That’s the words I was searching for. It does sound like it could be around the muffler from the inside of the cab. How long did you drive this way? What was the mileage?

Hard to say exactly what mileage I was at when they started making the noise. Unfortunately I lived with the noise for a while before I came across some great threads on this site. When I finally changed them, my truck had around 145k. After the change, it was like I had just installed the best resonator in the world:D
