Well since I have no idea where any of these places are, Just count me as a probable wherever. Although maybe next time a 3 hour ride to the location from the house would be nice. I don't mind it once in a while, but I'd hate to have to drive that far every time. Birmingham would be nice.

The place I was talking about wheeling wouldnt be so good for camping. Its fine during the day, ive been there more times than I can count with no problems. Its just at night, it is a little sketchy, its public land and backs up to a bad part of town. Although I have never had any problems, there is a always a possibility. I figured it would just be a day run since the trails arent going to take all day anyways. Figured we could start around 10 and be out of there by 3ish. But if yall do want to camp, we could go to oak mtn and then possibly to the trails from there. But, the place David is talking about sounds pretty cool also, wouldnt mind checking that out.

well the sun popped out and i checked out my truck........ not too good. got some really deep stripes down the entire length of the truck(deep enough to show white) the tops of the doors(over the windows) are extremely roughed up. looks like it took a pretty bad beating afterall.

guess that is what you get taking a less than three month old truck out in the woods...oh well just gotta move on and deal with it.

From VH, I'd say about 30 - 45 min. Youre welcome to come check it out with me if you want. Will likely be walking it though. Not going to take my prerunner into the thick of it by myself.

This is all just a big IF though. Depends on what everyone wants to do.

I'll have to talk to the wife about it. 98% of weekends are family time.

I think i broke the steering rack while we were mudding over the weekend. I crawled under the truck today to lower my CB a bit further and found fluid all over the place around it.

There is no puddle under the truck, and i didn't see any drips. Had my brother get in and crank the wheel back and forth while i was watching, and didn't see anything leaking. Maybe it just sprayed a bit while trying to work my way out of the mud?

I took a bunch of shop towels and cleaned the area around it. This way i will know if it leaks again.

    Pic below..

family time is a good reason. well I'm also off friday...but I'm fixing my cv in the morning...if y'all come help it shouldn't take but couple hours if that?? then leave my place out to where you are talking about.
EDIT: did you check the lines coming and going from the rack? possibility one is loose and when driving down the road it just splatters all over?

Thats totally understandable, just let us know.

Might take an hour and a half the first time. But after you figure out how to do it, it can be done in less than an hour easily. I could help you on sunday if you dont do it on friday.

That's what I like to hear! "Hard to stay pre runner friendly" We can always help out 2wd's.. I just want stuff to climb.. It can just as easily break stuff but at least when it does IT DOES.. It's not sneaky like mud is.. I popped my hood today and DAMN!! I thought I had a dirty engine bay before... Anyone know how to clean an engine bay quick and safely?

That's a good point. The two lines you see in the pic are tight. I didn't realize at first that there is another line right on the other side of the rack where I am pointing in the pic. I'll have to drop the skid plate to check it, but well worth trying. That would be great if that's what it is.

Might be a good idea to change the wheel bearings out inthe front if they never been changed out while you have the front apart(inner and outer bearings) and if were me I would change both sides.
    But thats just me.

I have a 1st gen also and thats what I did before hunting season so I wouldn't have to deal with it later.
