ha Don't worry about I'm not having the best night so if I can share some knowledge and help a fellow man I've done pretty good. And bigger isn't always better in fishing, it isn't much fun to catch a 20 pound red drum on a tackle setup for a 100 pound shark. I'd much rather have the 20 pound red on a line set up for a 10 pound flounder.

well hope it gets better! and true. but i thought that what ever i would hook to to much for my smaller rods. my big rod is rally not all that bit. i know some people around here that have stiffer and bigger rods(yeah i realize that sounds wrong) like i said my other rods have like 4lbs and 6lbs line on them. and are allot shorter one is like right under 5’ other is like 5.5’ or so.

I have rods that are guaranteed for life not to snap under the weight of a 400 pound shark kicking its tail on the line trying to break free. The 10 pound rod will be your best bet there is no reason to go out and spend $100 on new gear for a day of fishing.

Also CharlestonFishing.com is a great source of info for fishing the low country. I hang around there all the time and have been loving the reports coming in lately.

oh i’m not buying a rod thats for sure!! idk what the rods are rated for. just know what line i have on them. the one with 6lbs line is a pretty cheap rod i won. other 2 are $30+ rods. and one of them i just use for trout and it has 4lbs line on it.

Just be sure to lube up your reels. Salt water will destroy fresh water reels. Sand will get in there too. Rinse them really good too.

Well come to find out the Fox springs are not the extended length. Maybe call DSM this week. Now the question is Fox or Icon?

Their mascot's name is Jed and since we don't like APP we call him Imbred Jed. That my friend is dedication. Looks like it paid off though!

Except there 1425, the Fox are 1260 and the Icons are 1346. And I need to buy a spare tire and still pick up a couple things prior to Moab so every dollar counts.

Yeah and although I have no experience with King's I hear they are pretty smooth on and off road. Which company do you prefer? I didn't think the Icon's would be more expensive than Fox's. I personally would go with the Icon's.

Probably will wait and see what Marco or Sonny at DSM say. I've heard great things about all three companies so it makes it hard to say. I know jandrews swears by his Icons, Kevin at ATO loved his Fox. decisions, decisions, decisions

I agree with "pick a color". I think it'd be hard to be disappointed with any of the big three...they're all quality products, and you can tell by the price

King and Fox have a progressive valving, Icon is digressive. This makes Icon softer on big hits (potholes, rocks/ruts, etc.), jittery on small stuff (road imperfections). King and Fox are the opposite...plusher on road, kick you a little harder offroad.

You want a little plusher bumpstop with the Icons...I run Wheeler's Superbumps and IMO it's a perfect combo.

I was wondering if anyone in North Carolina has changed their dash lights and wouldn't mind helping Mr out?

Well I think that I probably be going with Fox, I like plush on the road, and I don't race across the open desert. Plus I'm not gonna get new bump stops right now.

Those are the two examples I was going off of lol I don't have a whole lot of insight on either brand. I am kind of in the same boat as you. Already thinking of what suspension I want to run on the FJ and I am torn between Icon and OME. I know it really isn't much of a decision if money isn't an issue, but I also have to account for getting 5 new wheels. Thinking about stepping up to a 295 this time around.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I will now be reconsidering what setup I want to run whenever I get the funds lol

Like jandrews said, you really can't go wrong with either of those choices. And of course color preference takes dominance over all other decisions haha

I really don't care what color they are as long as they run smooth.
