Wow I was expecting you'd report there were more icy sections. What were the temps like at the summit and surrounding high elevations?

Looks like my plan to traverse the entire forest later this week are likely to pan out (based on forecasted weather and this report).

There are a few icy spots and if you try to leave towards upper lake then the first bit of the journey out is VERY icy. Jason (strom) and i had to drive very slow in these sections with our 4wd on. just fyi and be safe if you decide to go this route. Also all the side trails we hit were manageable in 4wd or even 2wd which i did. lol

I think i will wait to go until there is a good size storm again and hopefully there will be a good amount of snow up top and the trails will be slippery which makes it fun.

Great pics! Looks sweet, anyone else have any pics?

Oh and just to put it out there, my bro and I were thinking about heading up there In January sometime. I don't know the dates yet, he's also a member here but was out of town so he couldn't attend. He's a 4runner guy .

    Thanks,

    Brett

The mud grapplers are loud from the beginning which are awesome. Sounds like i am landing a plane while driving down the freeway lol The grip offroad is amazing and they dig very well. Debating if I want to get them again when I slide up to dirtyfives!

I camped out at the top that night. It was pretty awesome. Stars were spectacular and the view out the tent was incredible.

A big thanks to ffdawson for putting on the trip! Good times!

Not bad at all! I would guess it was 35-40 at the coldest in the night. It got a little windy in the middle of the night but it was relatively calm most of the time. Daytime was between 65-70

Awesome pics Chris! I'm glad you guys had a good time camping up there. After we left the peak w/ you we headed north onto that next ridge. There were some super fun trails, and some great spots for campsites.

Glad you guys made the trip up. Definitely have to do it again soon, and bring bikes next time! Hull mt shuttle!

Jason and I were talking about getting up there soon, maybe even within the next week or so? (I'd have to confirm that with him... But it's an idea!)

Now that we known where we're going up there we could do some fun exploring.

Had even considered an overnighter (inspired by CMJ!) heading from Upper Lake north through the forest to Covelo.

Anybody interested feel free to chime in!
