Thanks @JimboAnz and @ajohnson for offering to help install my lift, but got the itch though and started on it last night. With a buddy's help, got the front on. Icon extended travels and icon UCAs. Took about 4 hours from start to finish... Id say an hour of that was taking beer breaks though. Really impressed with how everything was "bolt on ready." Although I have to say the instructions from Icons blow if you haven't done the sort of thing before. Great learning experience though! Planning on installing the rear on Saturday.

Nice! We all knew you could handle it! Pretty easy if you just pay attention to what part does what.

4 hours is pretty good time too! It took me an hour trying to remove the ball joint between the spindle and UCA lol. Finally rented the tool and it took 3 seconds

Yeah, definitely agree... I don't consider myself mechanically inclined at all, and getting in there and doing it made me much more comfortable, just knowing how those components of my truck all work together. If something happened on the trail I would much more comfortable taking the wheels off and trying to fix myself.

That's funny you say that about the ball joint... I went to Auto Zone and rented what they told me was the ball joint separation tool. I looked at the guy and said "this is the press." and he said no, it does both. Got home, got the wheels off and it WAS just the press. Ended up just using a hammer to "shock" the joint which quite honestly was super quick.

Yea my passenger side popped right off with a hammer and long screwdriver as a lever. The driver side however did not want to come apart. I beat on it for such a long time before going and getting The tool

Any meet ups planned? Getting married in Sept. so things are a little busy right now... but would like to get out to Linville for some camping/fishing in July or August if possible. Any interest? There are some awesome camping spots along old NC 49 that runs along the gorge.

So I was given the go ahead on a lift. I don't think it will be within the month that I buy it but I'm curious as to what some of y'all are running. I had a ome with 886 on my 08 and thought it was great for what I used it for and right price. I'm looking primarily at fox because I run fox on my f150 with a bds 6" I think it handles good for that height and the driving I do in it. But I know I can't compare those 2 vehicles anywhere on the same scale. So my question is I do off-roading from light to "oh hey I'm on three wheels." I mainly have bumpy ass dirt roads that would loosen bolts on a vehicle with pot holes big enough to put a human in it. But also a lot of highway driving. Like 662 miles one way. And 500+ to another place one way. I plan on armor I have winch. Any suggestions? Maybe different brand lift?

Finished installing my lift last Saturday and got my Cooper ST Maxx's put on.. couldn't be happier. The Coopers look much beefier in person, and the turning radius is the same if not better with the "tall and skinnies."

Did find out the hard way that over-tightening the ball-joint center bolts can make it feel like you have no power steering hahahahahahaha. tacoma 2.jpg

So put on my lift last week... Icon stage 2 extended travel with Dakar leafs in the back.. Got my alignment done, everythings been good. Had some slight vibration upon takeoff but nothing anyone else would notice and nothing I cant live with.

Today, I hit the highway going to work and at about 55 miles per hour I got some serious steering wheel shake... almost like I was driving down a gravel road. Decided to slow down (the shaking stopped) and made it to work. Checked all of the main bolts on the suspension install and everything was tight except for one of the leaf spring bolts in the back. Must have missed torqueing it down after lowering the truck... but honestly I don't think that was the cause given I tried to shake the leaf spring and it wouldn't budge.

And thoughts guys? Think the leaf spring could have been the culprit? Ill torque it down tonight and take it for a test drive... but wanted to see what y'all think...

ive got the slight takeoff vibe too, nothing I cant live with......

balance tires? maybe? if you switched out UCAs keep and eye on the nut on the long horizontal bolt, mine worked free and nearly feel off, was making a racket, clicking and popping (not related to steering wheel wobble, just a heads up)

Definitely will check that! Tires are balanced, just got brand new ones put on. The long horizontal bolt would make sense given if that got loose the entire UCA would be unstable... Hopefully it is that! When we were doing the install I rented a torque wrench from Auto Zone and it was total f'in crap... wouldn't click upon reaching the desire ft-lbs so it was a bit of a guessing game.

10-4, I am in the habit of just checking mine every so often now. some people put locktite on that nut, wouldnt hurt. I dont think thats your steering wheel wobble though
