255/85r17s? What Nittos did you put on, the Ridge Grapplers? I didn't have any issues with mine until about 30k miles, which was still half the tread at 2.5 years. And by issues I mean I was able to break traction in the rain if I wanted to a little easier. I never felt unsafe with them and they still worked in the snow the season before at like 25k miles.

Sorry about that, the deal for the awning happened very quickly one night. I saw the awning for sale, and with the recent accident didn't know what I was going to do with the wheels. Took a chance on a trade and it worked out for both of us. There was another deal recently for some with tires.

I am sure getting rid of them is gonna come back some day and bite me in the ass......................

I picked up a used set of the terra grapplers. I like the tires, but they seem to hold onto whatever is in the treads, and seem like a hard compound. Its whatever though, I'm gonna rock the shit out of them until I need something else.

Can't say that I blame ya, I'd rather have the awning. I think i found a wheel solution close to home anyhow. Thanks though.

Ahhhhh, yea, I think the Ridge Grapplers would be a better choice. The guys that do wheel with them like them a lot. It's one of the newer "hybrid" tires like the Duratrac on the market. I've run both on road and the Duratracs might have the edge on traction a little. I only got 30k miles on a 4Runner though and they were breaking traction like crazy and making a lot of noise. Someone told me they sounded like they were delaminated. Why I switched brands with the old Taco. Now I think I'm going with the Cooper ST Maxx. Or the Pro Comp A/T Sport.

Glad you have a lead on some wheels Mike!

I really needed a cheap option until I can make the leap to 35's. These will hopefully get me by, traction isn't the best on them for sure. I've been driving for a minute though, and have never had great tires. The key is to know the limitations, but my thoughts of running these on the trail are gone!

PA clay sticks to anything, it doesn't matter what your tires are, this peanut butter doesn't fling off till you're really spinning.

We do what we can when we can. I've been there before and will be again I'm sure. Right now for example, I'm going to have to keep the OEM GY Adventure w/Kevlar until they wear out or fail in the snow. There are other things I want/need for this new truck.

Yea, I would have to agree. They would probably be great on flat rock, forest/service roads, and obviously asphalt, but not loose dirt and mud. Especially the dreaded clay based type. That stuff is slick as goose shit on ice. And it's all over this region.

35s! Nice. My limit is going to be 33, and for a very long time!
