I saw another one for sale on here in Texas and it was $800. Then I saw another one, newer, for a long bed 3rd gen and it was $2k o_O which is only 300 less than new.

I made up my mind. I'm definitely going to look for one. I want to research how high above the top of the bed sides the top of the cap is though. I have a height restriction to watch out for. I think I'll be ok though.

I'll keep posting them here as I find them.

Damn, 800 versus 2k! Guess it really depends on the condition and options. But that red one would look pretty good on my truck, the color is pretty close too! And yeah definitely keep posting them as you find them, thanks a lot!

Actually just realized that this cap probably won't fit my bed. I think it the 1st gens tailgate is too small for the "rear-door" type cap like that ARE. And I'm not sure if that cap would fit up near the cab. Anybody know if it would fit?

with those factory springs you will want the highest clip setting possible on those 5100s if you are looking for 3"

I just did my 5100's this past weekend. Inside the box there is a sheet that tells you what each notch provides for lift.

Thanks for looking out for me but if I was gonna do it I’d want 0*. They’d really just be door ding protection and steps, I don’t wheel. If I’m going to spend that much on something for the truck it honestly would be more likely spend on katskins first. Funds low, dreams high.

@uurx is correct but, and I’m sure others will chime in, stock coils compressed that much will ride like crap. Someone will be along shortly to tell you which ome springs to get for your needs and leave the 5100’s set at 0.

Since you don't need a true slider take a look at the Tyger brand sliders, or maybe even the OEM Predators. Those are both great for what you need.

I’m sure you could find out exactly what springs would work best for you pretty quickly in the suspension forum. Or ask over in the njbs thread. One of those guys will have an answer for you.

sorry i assumed you had he tx pro spring which are only like 520# springs

if your red trd baja springs are indeed 650# springs you might not sag as much as I assumed, but do to the springs length I still believe you will want to be up near the highest clip setting to reach 3"

i recently removed my 5100s with 886 springs in favor of emu struts with the same 886 springs. i have less lift now and it drives much better. after two years I can confirm 2.5" > 3" :typing:

I don't think there is a direct answer to your question Jerry. I am new to this stuff, but I believe the stock springs are longer than Off-road package, but still the 590 spring rate. The weight of the bumper and the winch will probably end up taking it down. The 5100s are adjustable, but in my opinion for $100 i'd add the 886 springs from the beginning and run the 5100 at 0. I have to switch out to 886 this summer sometime as I went too light when lifting. I don't know your budget, but waiting until you get springs might be the best option with the weight.
