    Belleayre mtn in the catskills had a huge avalanche (for Eastern standards) that took out the base lodge. Filled the lodge with 4' of snow after breaking through the windows and doors on xmas morning.

    Haven’t been there in years but thinking about the terrain it doesn’t surprise me. The wide steep shelf that runs down to a big open flat.

    Happened at 530 am. They were alerted when the motion sensors went off and called security.

    6" of rain Thursday into Friday. The trail right under lift 7 directly infront of the lodge let go.

    I have heard of a few other wet saturated snow slides from yesterday, but no others that caused damage.
    Supposedly a ski patrolled was caught in a slide at Mt snow while on his snowmobile. He was uninjured.
