Didn't get a chance to go this weekend because my friend pussed out. We ended up tooling around in some undeveloped neighborhood....[yawn] but he's never been offroading before so it was fun for him. He just picked up a 97 4runner SR5 4x4 5spd.

I think we're gonna hit up FS295 and FS338 this weekend. Its in cherry log aka rich mountain. Probably 45 min drive from my house. If anyone wants to meet at my house before hand we can go from there. I'm right off hwy5 and 575. From what I have been reading they have graveled FS338 within the last few years however FS295 is still dirt. I checked on the forest service website and it said they opened thoses roads back up for the season on march 1st.

I'm down for a camping trip and maybe if we wanna find somewhere we can mountain bike too i'm all for that.

BTW here's some maps from the forest service

ya, i joined now. I can keep up to date on what you Tocoma people are up to :D

Alright, down to business. As most of you aren't from the same location, I'll have to make a meeting place, we (group that is leading the trip, members from IH8MUD.COM, including me that is coordinating the whole thing) will be meeting around 9AM on May 15th (set date) at StarBucks in Alpherretta GA

    Address is here:
    StarBucks Coffee
    5315 Windward Parkway, Alpharetta - (770) 772-0228

After we all meet up I will then explain (as always) about you have the possibility of damaging your rig, it WILL get scratched, and bumpers could be bumpin :D We will then drive in a convoy to Amicalola falls and run the main trail, when we get done with that those who do not want to continue can break off and hit the highway back home, we will have a lunch at a restuaraunt in the state park, then follow the guy that knows all the FS trails up north. It will be about a 1 hour drive depending on traffic ETC... crossing "Blood Mountain" is always fun in a lifted armored rig  . Send me a email for any questions and contact info so I may put you on the list.

    deftones997@aol.com

So far we have about 7 people from IH8MUD coming, lets try to get a few more on the list and have some fun.

Now, for those who don't know the trails and those who have been there, they have severly washed out over the past winter with all the ice storms and rain. There is a good chance of using your skids and sliders. But there are many lines you can take, so no worries.

Here are some recent trips I have taken the past few months.

Most of the trails are pretty mild, you can usually hit 15-20mph on the straights without shattering your back. Me and another guy did about 60 miles in about 5 hours. It wasn't bad, you eat a lot of fuel. It was a lot of fun, mainly dirt roads, but some of the best views in GA.

I was thinking about heading up to that area to do some white water rafting at the end of next month if anyone wants to get up and hit some trails

no worries, there will be many weekends to come, I'm sure when the time gets closer more and more people will have to drop out (like always, you start with 10 people, and meet up with 3 lol).

let me know next time you can wheel, I'd be happy to run a few trails.

Take it easy and hope to wheel with ya soon.

2000uzj has the main trail changed in the last year. I have not been up there in a while, but the second clip in the first video reminded me of that puddle. it used to be about 3 ft deep, still the same? lots of good times up there, i want o explore more of those trails sometime.

the trail has changed dramatically. I didn't go up there for about 6 months and when I went back I was totally lost, I had no clue where I was. Shocking, but you would be shocked at how weather cycles and winter weather washed out the low lying areas, and washes the dirt away from the rocks, making them protrude more, and thus changing all the lines. I love it up there mainly because of that. Every 2 months I go up there and each time a part of the trail has changed. there are a few sections I should not take my truck over just because the trail is either to narrow but I do anyway, no issues, but a heavier/wider rig may have some problems.

and the puddle seems to be getting deeper, It has a gravel bottom now, but at the going rate its not holding. It's turning into a mud filled base that your front end sinks into unless you really stay on it and carry momentum (hence my video, the front end went straight down and I was pretty much pedal to the metal)

I have heard a lot of people say that they didn't really need 4wd on many of the trails. Everyone has tow straps so prolly not too big a deal.

    what trails were these?

every single trail ive seen in the past 2 years you couldn't get near the entrance. But then again I wheel a little differently than most of you..

KoruptTaco got this spy pic from the last time I went out

^^^I'm referring to the FS roads everyone was talking about, on many of the FS roads they are kinda semi-washed out dirt roads- and I've been told by many they didn't really have to use 4wd. I'm not referencing the exact trails you were referring too

gotcha, there are some FS like that, I've been on them, they are great scenic trails that you can spend most of the time fishing in the small streams or sightseeing. They are fun. I'd be up for running a few
