I can do either day the weekend of the 20th, unless my wife goes into labor (due 4/11).

I'm mainly looking to up the alternator charge for my AGM. I've got an Odyssey 34R1500T. I'm heavy and on 33s, so not against a tune since I'm paying for it anyway. But I'd need help deciding what options for that if there are even options like that.

As far as making a decision on which tune goes, there isn't a lot to decide on. The biggest choice is whether you want to commit to putting 91/93 in the tank at every fill up or to stick with 87. Most people just stick with 87. After that, if you have gears and/or taller tires (AT only), I'll put the appropriate tune on your truck for that. MT doesn't matter because there is no need to adjust anything. AT gets adjusted shift points and such to account for the tires and gear ratio.

AGM battery edits will take a little longer than just flashing a tune as we will need to take some measurements and verify charging voltage. Every truck seems to behave a little differently, so I can't just punch in some numbers and expect it to be perfect.

For anyone that has been following a few of the TSB and tuning threads, you may be aware that a few people have run into some issues flashing their trucks. I wanted to make sure I addressed this with you because there is always the potential to "soft-brick" your ECU and that does sound scary. I do not know, and Mat (OVTune) does not know exactly why it happens. Info from those affected is sparse and not all that reliable, but I believe some kind of user error is involved. That being said, I have never had an issue flashing any truck with 2.0 tune. I did however brick my own ECM when doing some testing for Mat. The good news is, A soft-bricked ECU can be easily recovered with a bench flash by removing it from the truck. I have a dedicated cable made up for this procedure and I always have it with me. Getting to the ECM only takes about 5-10 minutes with just a 10mm socket and phillips screwdriver.

Does a "soft-brick" occur immediately when you flash it or can it occur months later while driving down the road or trail?

It happens immediately. No chance of it happening later. The flash either works or it doesn't. Again, to be clear, it is an extremely rare occurance and I am always prepared to handle it.

It is in the passenger side dashboard to the right and behind the glove box.

Good to know. I was afraid you were going to say driver's side. It's a bit of a mess under there from all my aux switches and add-a-fuses, so knowing worst case it's on the other side is definitely reassuring!

My schedule for the next couple weeks is pretty crazy, but I am around pretty much anytime on the weekend.

Going through the thread, it looks like we don't have a confirmed date and time for the Lee and Western NY meet-up for tuning. I'm available all weekends for the next couple of weeks - hope we can schedule something. Thanks.

I think most people were good for Saturday the 20th. I'll move this into a PM conversation so I we can take this to the side and keep track of it.

Is there some place I can read up on the latest tune options? I am probably just gonna go with the basic low octane tune, but the mapping features sounded interesting and wanted to know what the options are for that.

The Premium tune will net you a little more power than the 87 tune. The map switching functions are not available yet. If you have an AGM battery (not a standard lead acid as stock), I can also boost charging voltage appropriately.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. There is a plethora of information on the forum in the OVTune specific threads even though they are a bit cluttered.

I know this question probably has been asked to death (even on this thread) but does anyone have a quick link to members comparing experiences between the 87 and 91 tune? I'm so on the fence between what I want. Positives is more power would just be really awesome to have at my disposal, but negative is if I ever sell it down the road, I would need to be flashed again to revert to stock/wouldnt have to revert back with the 87 tune (and also the long drive to Poughkipsee to do this again!). Other, smaller negative, is the gas price difference and making sure I'm always the one filling up the tank, which isn't too big of a problem cause my wife doesn't really drive it.
