Welding isn't that difficult. The biggest thing is to just practice hands on.

hey everyone up in Sac how is the I80 this season over to Reno. I've made this trip several times before but never this time of the year. I done the I80 run on in the summer, spring, and late winter. I heard this is the snowiest part of the year.

I'm planning a trip over the mountains for some gaming fun but really don't want to deal horrible traffic conditions.

The key is to get up & over the pass before CalTrans can get out there & close it down or put up the chain restrictions which is usually about 9:00am. That is what causes all of the traffic, I made a run up there to scope out some snow parks about this time last year on a Saturday @ noon or so & the traffic was starting to get stupid, so we turned around.

Oh yeah. Caltrans and the CHP are strictly a 9 to 5 operation. :D

I believe the more likely cause of the increased traffic that you've observed is simply that as the morning wears on, there are more people on the road who've managed to get out of bed, onto the road, and heading towards Tahoe/Reno. At any rate, there's no denying that if you leave earlier, you'll encounter less traffic.

Also, it's early enough in the season there's not going to be much in the way of ski traffic at all yet.

Sugar bowl gets arguably more snow than pretty much anywhere else yet, and they've only just started to develop a base and aren't anywhere close to open yet.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
There shouldn't be any Ski traffic no resorts are open and if the weather continues like this it's going to be Christmas before I get to go boarding:censored:

how well do they keep the highway clear... is it safe to assume that if its not currently snowing then chains won't be required? I more concerned with weather, traffic is obviously a problem but I could deal with that... additionally do they ever close the pass?

I'm use to Washington state passes but those are noticeably lower in altitude where they do close them sometimes during the winter.
