I don't know what you can trust on some of the websites with all the constant back & forth. That being said, I think most are scheduled in that area to open 6/15. My buddy has been keeping tabs on it b/c we have Elk tags in the western part of there & he keeps being told 6/15 most of those roads are supposed to open when he talks to the Rangers.

Thanks, Keith. The ol' lady is heading that way early this afternoon to check status and find a camp spot at any rate. I can provide an update later this weekend

Based on what I've read from fishing reports it seems nothing consistent is the one thing consistent

    This stands true.

Chicken Park Rd (181) is not open yet, Creedmore was slammed as expected. Still good to get out this weekend and pulled a few trout from the southern most lake.

I went over to the western slope and ended up in Basalt a couple nights. The town seemed busy and the road up to glenwood springs was too on the way back Saturday morning. It is state wide

It wasn't too bad of a drive until we hit a wreck near Genessee that had all three lanes exiting and returning via detour. We were the first cars when it reopened and didn't have to detour but we sat through the entire thing for about 30 minutes.

Does anyone have recommendations for shops that'll remove/press on the rear axle bearing/retainers if I bring in just the axle and hub assembly? I'd like to do all of the work myself but I'm not sure I want to pony up for a press and puller assembly.

I don’t know of any shops, but I do have a 20T press, as well as the specialty tool for doing bearings, seals, and retainers. To do it right, you REALLY want to have the axle housing present with the new seal pressed into it, so that you can make sure that the seal is riding dead center on the retainer.

@odomandr have you fished Dixon Reservoir at all? Trying to get out later this afternoon / early evening to cast and lose lures.

Thanks, I just watched Timmy the Toolman Toyota's rear axle video and he does a great job of going over that iterative process. It looks like you also flipped around the ABS retainer to accommodate newer seal depth/dimensions?

I did. I’m not sure it’s as important as making sure the seal surface on the retainer is centered on the seal, though.

Timmy’s video was definitely a huge help for me on that project too.

That is the one in the natural area below horsetooth I just realized. I through a wooly bugger in the northwest area of that reservoir two summers ago didn't catch anything but some kids with their dad caught some catfish

Yeah, I think it's mainly panfish in there - I've read good and bad. We hit Horsetooth instead the last couple of nights and found success with bass and bluegill. I haven't fished in ages so it's fun to get back at it again.

I can't figure out the app, all it gives me is Fish they have found in body of water I input. The monthly report actually gives a true fishing report of what (and how) is getting caught at various places.

Anyone have good recommendations for trails north of Steamboat Lakes SP? A group of friends and I were going to head to the san juans to do a trip but want to be able to have (small) campfires and fire bans are already in place down there from the low snow pack.

We are in stock tacomas and one stock F-250, have recovery gear, radios, etc.
