Okay cool. My goal is to find some campsites that I can use in the future. If this route dead ends, I have a few others we can check out.

Are you going solo. My wife said "I don't want to be the third wheel " lol. She will go if she has someone to talk to. If not it's just me

For April 23, what about the roads in the tug hill plateau? Never been up to tug hill so not sure what they're like but there seems to be a big network of unimproved roads.

After looking on google maps it looks like they're just normal dirt roads - never mind.

Yeah the Tug Hill area that I've been on was just normal dirt roads. But I have spoke to a few people and they all say that is has good 4WD roads. One even showed me a pic of his Jeep stuck in the mud and it seemed like a decent place. I'm sure the true off roading trails in the Tug Hill region are small parts of longer dirt road tracks.

Damn I've been looking for stuff near me/near my hometown for about an hour and it seems like NY really doesn't like people offroading. Almost no public access forest roads as far as I can tell.

Ny definitely does not promote off roading

Olin rd and the back way around flat rock inn have some pretty good size rocks and mud holes I found last fall. Roads up by still water are very sandy not too much different from tug hill

Dctaconny, I got word from another guy over in the "Expedition Portal Forum" that the route we planned to explore is gated and only used by hunters. Supposedly, the hunters have a lodge at the end of the route and even when the gate is open they try and keep people from driving down it.

I spent some time last night looking at my maps and found a few areas that we could drive, but by the looks of it they all seemed like maintained dirt roads. I say we still plan to go in that area and but we should have a few different routes to check out. I will bring my maps and we can play it by ear.

Yeah I do. Unless you have another place in mind. I'm open to whatever. I just enjoy getting out and driving around, even if it's down to Syracuse for the mall...lol.
