The metal pipe going from the caliper to the hose. I would use the word "Interesting". I have been in vehicles with no breaks before and managed ok. When I say NO breeaks I mean E-Break only.

With this, I had the pedal all the way to the floor, and realized one of the sides was fubar. At the same time I realized as long as I knew the limits of the truck and adhered to them, as well as using the gears properly. I could safely get to an automotive place or dealership to rectify the issue. '

I got more of a scare when the people in the store had NO clue what I was referring to when I was telling them what part I needed. After 10 min of me saying , No, not that part. Finally someone came outside to look at the part. They never saw one before and had to get a manager to figure out if they had one. Then they didn't even try to upsale me on anything. Obviously I was going to need break fluid if the breaks were shot or I was changing anything break related. Could have sold me a break bleeder kit or some hose and a catch can for the fluids. Paper towels, shop rags, degreasers, 10mm box wrench or rubber gloves would all have been good suggestions.

I mentioned it to the guy as I was checking out, and then grabbed my DOT 3.

    Oh well..

Anyone know where to get some of the toyota wheel studs?

It might have been off because of VSC, Traction Control, ABS, etc. I'll tell you from my experience bleeding my rear brakes. You DO NOT want one of those lines going out as the master cylinder will keep pumping fluid if the pedal is pressed, it doesn't stop.

Anyways, I've heard of those breaking on cars that see a lot of salt up north as they're near the wheel and get a lot of overspray.

Parts store didn't have wheel studs? That's where I get them for most cars.

Hey guys. I'm looking for some advice from somefellow NOVA Taco owners. So, I get back from Afghanistan in mid-September and Iwant to put on a lift/suspension kit, rims, and tires on my 08 DC 4x4 TRD. Arethere any shops y'all recommend going to and getting some advice? I've beenreading through TW for weeks now trying to decide what I want and the more Iread, the more indecisive I'm getting. Here's what I'm looking for: I hunt, camp, and fish with my truck, butmainly it’s used to commute to and from work, so I want to be able to getaround out in the country, but no crazy off-road activities, ya know? Also, Idon't want a still ride when I'm driving down the road. I don’t what would bebest for me. I’m just getting confused. Getting help from some expert locals isjust what I need. I've got three months to decide since I'm stuck in the desertwithout my Taco anyway. Thanks guys. Appreciate any help.

Get a FULL OME (Old Man Emu) kit. When you get back, I'll help install it. We can do it on Post in the SHOP or at my place, wherever theres 2 parking spaces really.

It is reasonably priced and should fit your needs.

If you need a local to help with stuff, let me know. Shoot me a PM if you want or whatever.

I recommend you just start looking in the picture threads and see what wheels and tires you like. Then start looking online or craigslist to see what pricing you can find.

@$6 per hour for a lift on Post, you cant beat it. Labor and tools are free.

As of this week, I am the proud owner of a gray TRD off road. Truck is stock (except for the hose clamp mod). Currently writing from Rockville where I work but live in Falls Church so I'd thought I'd say Hi. Hope to see you guys on the road!

wasnt directing that toward you, or tryin to steer people away from you. Meant more like no need to go a shop, I cant remember the exact number but I remember when I got my lift on I contacted high tech in chantilly and they wanted A LOT to do it. Drove down to va beach and met some of the guys down there and we knocked it out. Im sure you do geat work

Hows that motor build coming anyways?

@Bsnaylor -> If you need an errand boy til you get back also, I do not mind. I am on post often and know plenty of people. Could pick up things and drop them off for you if you find smoking deals you just cant pass up. Also, if you purchase things from people here on TW, most are accomodating and are more than happy to let items collect dust at their places for a few months.

I'm here to help. Saying this publicly also so if anyone has any objections to my reliability, they can see here and hold me accountable. Or if there are any objections, they can be addressed.

Anyways, be safe and hope to meet up when you get back stateside.
