Thanks matt. Its painful. Very, very painful. Ive weaned myself from the painkillers. Now just advil and excederin. Ive seen too many times what those pills can do to people. The incision still hurts a bit but my neck feels like a gigantic knot and cant really move it much side to side or up and down. Getting better slowly though :)

Hope you get well soon. I too, have seen what they do to people. Family included. Watched as a fam member went from a beautyful house and wife in Great Falls with a great career, down to borrowing from everyone to scrape together rent on a $600/ month room.

Glad you scraped off of them.

Hey everyone! Im fairly new (bought my 2013 DCSB in july) just thought id say hi. My name is Matt, and I actually live in Damascus up in northern Montgomery County, MD but I work based out of McLean. Im in the construction industry though so im all over DC and NoVa on a daily basis.

I recently saw a super white 2nd gen access cab driving through Ballston with a Tacoma world sticker and wanted to say hi but I dont know anyone who owns a Taco and thought itd be weird :( haha

Not weird. Anyone expressing an internet sticker should be prepared for the stranger every so often to approach them about it. That apply's to ANY sticker for that matter. Put a sticker about cycling on a vehicle, someone might ask what you ride.

    Yea true I guess. Haha

I think I just need to get out more and meet some of the local forum people! I wish I could go to the meet even this weekend but I'll be going to my alma mater (VT) for the homecoming football game. Any other weekend I definitely would have been there!

Ill tell you what though thry were giving me something in the icu after surgery i think they called it dillotted (sp?) And it made everything all better. My neck was laughing at the big doses of morphine, it did nothing.

Yep, dillotted and Oxy are the go to 'drugs' for and after those procedures. Oxy to keep the pain level subdued, and the dillotted and morphine to treat the acute immediate pain. Well, that is, from my understanding.

Wether it is in Percocette form or the Vicodine (hydrocodone vs oxycodone with a mix of 'acetaminophen'/ Tylenol) - still pain meds and, for some, very hard to get off of.

Glad you got the jump on it.

I did all the research whenever any of my family/friends/ etc. were getting things done and wanted to know in lamens terms what was being given to them and the risks. Especially when I realized their addiction.

Yeah when i got out of surgery i was dry heaving like nobodys business which made the pain in my neck 100x worse. Nothing helped till they shot me up with that stuff. I think i can say that was the longest and most painful night of my life. And that includes a bout with kidney stones. The stuff is easy to get hooked on and i see the results of it regularly. Thats why i tend to go for the motrin instead of the oxys. That stuff is downright dangerous.

Sounds like a good idea. Meet at a gas station in Gainesville, gas up and make the drive.

What time are you all meeting up in Friday? I can't go to the event but depending on what time you all are leaving I could possibly join the trek. I'll be leaving work and heading down 66 then down 81 to Blacksburg so I'm going that way anyways. Haha

This is for the event on Oct. 26th, I think, just so you're aware. Don't want you waiting around this Friday for no one.

Ah.. Haha my bad. I was thinking this weekend. I may actually be free the 26th. My friend wanted me to go to Rausch Creek with his Jeep club so if that falls through I'll have to meet up with you all.

    Thanks for clarifying that. Hahaha
