At this point its forgiveness instead of permission. They don't want to be responsible for something, I get that, its par for course around here.

Yeah, I did the math. They can raise a stink about it, but I just saved the PNW sector about..... $20,000.00 of their own damn budget that they can use for something else.

I grease wheels where it is important. This 14 will raise the issue with my boss, I'll explain to my boss the issue with a pretty spreadsheet with dollar signs, and that'll be the end of it.

    Haha, I wish.

Its more important to me to help the GS14 with the gun and badge than the GS14 in a suit and office far from the front.

Its always tough, I know there are super capable directors out there.

I never really saw the kingdom building out in the field that I see here in the DC metro area.

Depends on the profession sometimes. My old roommate is a 14, but being a lawyer does have a little bit of an accelerated government track. I think it all comes down to what got them there to begin with. If they are a good up and coming guy where decent work took place in a good time frame then they could be appreciative. The fossils who had to finesse the game forever to coerce that they were the perfect sole for the job tend to get buttitus whenever someone feels they ARNT needed in the chain. Funny part is these assholes are always the speed bump in progress.

fucking speed bumps man I tell ya.......civilians make my head hurt in my office. We have a few good ones but the rest just collecting a paycheck. I get more done before breakfast then they do all day and half the crap they do they pass off to someone else. I have no problem making decisions and getting chewed out for it.

Funny story just found out today. We have a brand new hire who is suing their new boss already for the hiring process of the job she is about to get. Cant be specific but WTF! Gotta love this stuff lmao. This job has opened my eyes to a whole new level of FUBAR.

I wonder what the percentage of people in this thread are contractors/gov't employees, and more specifically what percentage of "us" are DoD or DoD civilian employees?
