So what your saying is that by adjusting the balljoint setting on the LR UCA to the +1 setting it actually moved the wheel back to the cab? Reading the instructions it looked like it moved the wheel towards the front. I was thinking they should have put the balljoint setting to the nuetral position and see what they could get with the cams. However my knowledge on alignments leaves a lot to be desired. On my truck I left the setting in the nuetral position and they got me good numbers. I also am running 255's though.

 

No it was not that much. Which is why he is frustrated. He has been to multiple shops and cant get good numbers. He even went to the shop that has gotten him good numbers before.

Yes, exactly.
Think of caster this way: stand a yardstick straight up and down at the side of your drivers side front tire. That is zero caster. Slide the bottom of the yardstick forward. The angle of the yardstick is now positive caster. If you slide the bottom of the tire, with the LCA, forward, you have moved it away from the cab mount.
That may get you only 2° caster, but you want 4? Well the only way to make that angle slant more is by moving the top of the yardstick/tire rearward. Yeah, it gives you more caster, but your moving the tire rearward again, back towards the cab mount again.

Yeah they leave a little to be desired looks wise. Hopefully function will be worth it. If not, theyll be easy to remove.

 

Thats a good explanation. I have never understood the caster/camber/toe stuff very well but using the yardstick makes it easier to picture.

 

Meaning minor variations between the items is common.

 

Try 0* toe, 0* camber, 2.5 - 3* caster

High Tech Auto in Chantilly charges a lot for alignments but they always got mine right the first time whereas other places couldn’t get it right no matter how many times they tried

What's happened in the past 20 years is that most vehicles have the alignment specs built in to the suspension with no adjustment for caster or camber. Only adjustment is for toe. Yet shops are charging $100+ for alignments and all they are doing is setting the toe. Some of their alignment techs don't even know how to set camber and caster when they DO get a vehicle on the rack that has those adjustments...Sad!

Yours looked like they sat farther out. Although i dont think mine are adjusted all the way out, i dont think they would go that far. Did theyhelp with rain/snow/rocks being thrown up from the tires onto the car?
