Alcohol is illegal in most every state and National Park in the country. Not gonna find one where it isnt that I know of.

 

Um... not sure where you get that information. Most national parks only prohibit it in moving vehicles. Usually they are very specific; example: Shenandoah National Park. Mostly it's in government offices and parking lots.

I stand corrected on the national parks but alcohol is 100% prohibited in all Maryland state parks and outside in all Virginia state parks unless a permit has been previously requested and issued. And just for the purpose of clarification, National Forest are not national parks.

 

No worries man - I know the Virginia state parks I go to strictly prohibit alcohol. It’s the inconsistency of these laws that make it such a challenge. I’ve generally found that any place that allows overnight camping also allows alcohol; the rules for the Lee District are the first I’ve seen that prohibited it and made me start researching it.

 

I did want to add, there is a federal reg that states that it is illegal to carry a firearm into buildings where federal employees work / federal buildings....so the main office in national parks is off limits.

Just put your alcohol into a coffee mug. Nothing wrong with drinking coffee. Just don't do it while driving or operating a gun. Use common sense

Most of the parks I have been to basically say the same drunk in public laws apply. When talking with rangers most of them have said if we don't see you drinking and you are not acting drunk then we won't be checking you.
