I debated on replying because it’s not going to prove or solve much but I figured I should so people see why we decided what we decided.

The parts weren’t through weld yet BUT all the steel was in to build the order. We can’t plasma cut and form parts in house, it’s all out sourced. We ordered parts from the sheet metal house we used as orders come in. We don’t stock parts to build orders because sitting on inventory, hoping it sells is poor business practice. It makes you cash poor and just isn’t financially intelligent for our company. All the tubing was cut and bent for the sliders too. His order was sitting on a pallet ready for weld. We had everything we needed ready to go to build it.

We already had to pay our vendor for all the work they did which is a couple thousand dollars. And to build and order his size takes one guy 6 working days in labor just in weld and metal finish.

Also, he added a custom hoop to his from bumper which was already cut and bent.

If the order was to a third gen Tacoma I might have considered it but it was for a second gen Tacoma which we just don’t sell much anymore. It’s extremely rare for an order to come through that’s for a gen 2 Tacoma. Plus we only consider it if we have another order we can use it for. We didn’t have any other orders I could use this order for.

We have a policy, just like every other vendor if you cancel it’s a 20% fee to do so. I know I wouldn’t want to lose $1120 over an order cancellation. He will have no problem selling these parts and not losing any money. Especially since there would be no lead time once he has them. I did refund him the couple items we stock at all times and I did refund him in full on the powder coat since we didn’t do that yet.

The order is completed less his rear bumper which I expect to be done tomorrow. It went through weld today and will get metal finished tomorrow.

    -Joe

For any of you Military, LEO, Fire, EMT, or DA/DoD Civilians out there, I put this out here for your perusal. They have Rhino Rack - USA parts discounted up to 45% as well as plenty of other brands at reduced rates.

Thanks for replying Joe. I wasn't meaning to sound like I was in any way bashing your company. I love your products and the quality of the workmanship! And the fact that you're local!:)
I'm glad you replied too because I am sure I'm not the only one who had wondered about this. I didn't realize that part of the order was custom and definitely didn't know that your 2nd gen orders were dwindling that much either.

    It’s quite wild really.

We have 130ish orders in house right now. I bet 10, maybe less are gen 2.

Did you have @EatSleepTacos type all that for you? Cause it would fit his roll as "Joe's Slave"

Unless he is a different type of slave....but we won't cover that in this forum.

Just watch out for @Darkgoatracer cause he is already salty that #randyfab isn't taking care of him

Well I, for one, find this completely reasonable. Had they been an order I placed - knowing that they are build-to-order, I would understand... Now that said, I *might* try to add a few $$$ to the asking price just because... :D

Question for the folks going to Rausch... Is it close enough to be a day trip AND run some trails? I have a commitment on Sunday... But Rausch intrigues me greatly...
