My brother and I are planning on hitting the powerlines in Bristow but probably not until 4 or 5.

Probably 1.5-2 miles round trip. Not too big but still fun ... and free! :D

Most power line runs should be private property but I dunno.

Also be careful because I've heard some companies put sharpened rebar stakes angled and buried almost all the way on these trails to stop people tearing up the 'road'.

    I can understand it.

I really hate when people wheel on private property and trails like this because it makes other wheelers look bad. They tear up dirt roads and "trails" and then when time comes to possibly fund a actual offroad park people don't help because they think everyone with a truck and mud tires are rednecks who tear up their property.

I know I would be pissed if I lived on a dirt road or something similar and every time it rained, people came and just tore up the road. They just don't think of the repercussions of a couple minutes of "mudding". It really becomes a pain in the ass for other people.

Yeah, I could understand if it were private property, but seeing as I used to ride my 4 wheeler on this trail over 10 years ago and know many others that have not had trouble since I'm not concerned about it. I could also understand if there were any houses near by.

Especially considering that power line vehicles still need to get out there to perform maintenance.

FYI most right of ways are private property. Utility companies typically have easements within them but they are still privately owned. There may not be houses around but someone may still very well own it the land. Watch for signs, ask permission and tread lighty my friends.
