As far as the valve, that's how mine is setup. I also found one that has nuts on either side of it to tighten down nicely.

The tire valve I used. I was wrong, it only has one nut. But still tightened very nicely.

Sch 40 PVC is rated for 270psi operating pressure, so yes. Maintaining it will be another issue. I plan on pressurizing the pipe to 150psi or so then using something like this to regulate the pressure at 25psi output. Not high pressure but enough to shower and wash stuff off.
