I bought a 2008 Tacoma SR5 Off-Road Crew Cab Short Bed this past Saturday (thank you, thank you, thank you) and I've been literally reading threads all over on TW.com and I'm SUPER STOKED to get started with customizing my Taco as soon as possible. I figured I'd at least start with the basics, my front windows are not tinted and I'd love to get that fixed. What is the tinting laws in Virginia? Or does it even matter? My last car had pretty deep tint on the windows and I went through inspections twice and never heard a word about it. I'd like my front windows to match my rear windows. Does anyone know what to look for or who to call? Many thanks.

Welcome! Check out around post# 510ish of this thread. There was some talk about tinting there. I still haven't done mine yet but its on my to do list. Along with a lot of other stuff. Just bought a house so mods are slow and far between at this point.

Those are pretty sweet man. You could try posting up on craigslist too, might get some hits there. Seems like lately everything I post on there all I get for replies are scam attempts.

What part of NOVA are you in? To match the front to the rear youll need 20% with unfortunately is illegal but ive had mine done this way for a lil over 2 years now and have had no issues with the law (knock on wood). 50% is the legal limit for front tint in va. Now with that said, in my old blazer i got pulled over for speeding amd had 20% tint and got a ticket, 2 summers ago i got pulled over in my tacoma for speeding and was quick to roll down my window and got no tint ticket. This past summer my girlfriend got pulled over on 95 FOR her tint. Just depends on the cop
Thats why i list my phone number, had my stock tires on there and TONS of scam emails, the honest people will call/text

Where did you get your N-Fabs? I just got my new Baja Taco and am looking to start customizing it. I'm 5'2" and have to run and dive to get in. Could you use a step up. :D

That's a good idea. I'll have to add that next time I repost the stuff.
Welcome from a neighbor! There are lots of places to buy steps. I have the bolt on steps from Avid Offroad https://avidoffroad.infusionsoft.com/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=1. They look good and are pretty functional as steps for the wife and kids. I may end up selling them in the future though and get sliders if I ever get time to hit the trails more often. The steps tend to drag on rocks

so someone with a non off-road model could get this and the locker button automatically gives them e-locker :p
oh, and it looks like its for an auto. I can see the P.

I live in Woodbridge and work in Springfield. My old car had pretty dark tint and I never had a problem with cops, but I have a feeling as soon as I tint my front widows with 20% I'll get pulled over. Oh well, I still want to get some degree of tint, does anyone know a good place to go that is around Woodbridge? Thanks guys

I have used personally and most of my buddies use California Tint in the shopping mall across from Potomac Mills. It is located between Dairy Queen and Harbor Freight...

I got tired of getting pulled over for darkened tint so basically quit tinting my windows. Never had problems in Prince William County but was always getting pulled over in Fairfax County...

Yeah I'm sure ill just tint them dark enough to be happy but not so black that it stands out to police.

So I have a black off road crew cab and when I bought it there were some minor scratches so I went to AAP and bought some the Turtle Wax Black Box. I just got done waxing using that stuff and holy crap it worked so awesome! I'm amazed at how it filled in the small scratches with black polish and then just put a second layer of black wax on over the polish. Took me like three hours, but I feel like my truck looks so much better. If you have a black Tacoma I'd recommend this stuff to anyone. I mean, it might start coming off and look like crap, but for now it's working. I'll update after a couple months.

I've got 20% in the front and haven't been harassed so far, but I do run pretty much everywhere with my fronts down anyway. I usually roll them down real quick if I drive by a police officer just to avoid anything.

And I'm looking to be a police officer after I finish school. :D

I used to do that, roll em down real quick but honestly, ive pulled up next to MANY cops at stoplights and seen them look over at me, or up at me, and not done a thing. Even at night when tint seems darker because of no light coming in. So i dont even bother anymore. I see tooo many cars rollin around with tint as dark if not darker than mine
