I loathe them with every inch of my being. In a moment of insanity I bought a brand new one to see if it was any better. Still a pile of poo. Too heavy, exposed hammer, hard for an inexperienced shooter to pick up and be somewhat effective. And 9mm is just a bad choice. Even though I was out I did a little dance when I found out it had been replaced.

I really hope the M4 is next.

9mm is the only choice in my opinion, for what its worth, and the AR platform of weapons systems when done correctly is about the most modular system availible in the world, is by far the easiest to shoot, ergonomically it is the most adaptive weapon system you can buy. 5.56 (depending on grains) is also the best for your average soldier joe.

I am not a proponent of xds. there are a few reasons that I have, why i wont own one. 229 is a nice gun, Im just not a fan of 40. I dont see the benefit of a neutered 10mm. This is my main reason. Pistols traditionally suck at eliminating threats right, that's why you see cases of people living after being shot 9 times ( famously the rapper 50 cent as an example). The only way you stop someone is by turning off thier light switch (cns), blood loss, or they decide to stop (FIBSA or FIBS). WHo wants to wait until someone bleeds out or decides they want to stop? So, that leaves you with a very small window for CNS. I want to be able to carry as many rounds as I can, as I count all of those rounds as chances to end the fight. So if the option exists to have a 9mm, in a decent defensive round (gold dot for me) that will be my choice 100 percent of the time.

With the XD series of weapons, Ive seen too many failures with xds, through friends that run firearms classes for a living.

I've been in two situations that required me to return 9mm rounds. They were ball rounds, but it took far too many to drop the receiving end.

The AR is a great weapon in a controlled situation, but in a high tempo they aren't that great. I had the opportunity to shoot what was supposed to replace it and it was far and away a better weapon.

Have you returned any other pistol caliber rounds to say one is better than 9mm?

So, when you shot the replacement for the m4, are you referring to the 416, or the XM8? Because the 416 is an AR pattern rifle, just piston.
