It sucks. My previous dealer experience was VW and they treated people much better. My "status" with the VW community could have been the reason, but Toyota was a rude awakening. Last time I was in there, they ordered a new door lock for one of my doors, and said they would call me when it came in. That was a few months ago. I'm sure the part is there, but whatever.

Yeah that's how many trip site-seeing aspirations get dashed...not enough time in certain locations, I have been fortunate to have multiple week trips to some fun and not so fun areas and have more often than not been able to do some "touristy stuff" on down days or over non-working weekends.

Oh boy I dropped a few F-bombs last time I was there... The one thing that sets me off is someone calling me a liar or someone lying to my face and yeah, story time...

I dropped my truck off for the 10k service and 5 other complaints - most of which have a TSB. I get a call back next day and they tell me it's ready. I ask about the other issues... "what other issues?"

I proceed to give him the information I entered into the appointment system for the other issues including details how to duplicate them. The cocksucker is barely paying attention or responding and as I later found out, only writes down just 3/5 without the details I spent a couple minutes giving him. Instead of "rear end noise at 55mph while feathering throttle in 5th" or "Surging between 1.5K and 2.2K in 2nd under load" I get "noise at 55mph" and "Customer complains about surging." Third one was a passenger A-pillar rattle when cold.

Calls me up the next morning and tells me they can't confirm anything (at this point I'm still assuming he wrote down all 5 issues) but I need to pay .5 to fix the rattle. He tells me the technician confirmed it's the cord for my dashcam making the noise. The cord that I installed myself. Down the driver A-pillar. Which is secured with 8 zipties to keep it out of the airbag. All that comes out of my mouth is "wrong fucking pillar." He then proceeds to lie to me and tells me that the tech, he, and his shop foreman drove the truck at 55 and heard no noises so they wrote it off to my RTT which of course is gong to make a whining sound only at 55mph.

He keeps cutting me off and some words were exchanged and I end up just hanging up on him. I go pick up the truck and to my surprise, I only see the 10k and 3 complaints on the slip with the most generic descriptions possible.

Best part... Remember that dashcam cable? It's of course attached to a dashcam with GPS and while the tech got it up on 66, not one fucking time after that did the truck see a road with a speed limit over 45 nor did the truck hit 50. Dude was a lying sack of shit.

I used to be a dealer tech and I get that warranty sucks but in all those years wrenching, I've never seen a dealership so incompetent as Ourisman Fairfax. It's bad enough that even though I bought from Chantilly and had a fantastic experience, I'll never give that company any of my business again just out of principle.

I get that warranty work sucks, but I look at it two ways: the first is I get pissed and leave which mean the tech and writer go from something to nothing. The second is treat me right and I'll be back to spend more money. And I'll tell my friends. I've only met two people at dealerships that understood this.

I won't be keeping this truck past the last year of the current 4Runner... the day they announce the 6th gen I'm either getting one (a final year 5th gen) or I'm going to start shopping for a JLU/JT. I've had shit buying experiences at Miller and Koons so at this point, I might end up with a Jeep just because I run out of Toyota dealers. I mean if I'm going to have all these issues the dealership refuses to fix I might as well get something more capable to go with those problems.

This is so discouraging... to think Toyota does not hold their dealers to a better standard.

Sounds like the ONE time I went to Ourisman for warranty work. They said they couldn't do alignments with my "oversize tires", I went to a size that dealership was selling as "factory size" *facepalm*. Also, don't even try to get a TSB done at Ourisman, they told me "they don't do TSB's unless the Manager signs off on it". Umm, thought by default TSB's were required by Toyota????

Needless to say, Autonation Toyota Leesburg is the best experience I've had at a dealership service department. They called me the other day to check-in on my recent maintenance. Caught be off guard. Also, one of the service techs let me sit in a brand new Supra they were prepping for a customer. But shh, he isn't allowed to do that haha.

TSBs are just guidance for the techs when doing work. The issue is that if you don't follow it to the letter it will frequently be rejected by corporate when being paid. I doubt the manager signs off on every one but it's not uncommon to have a senior tech validate the applicability.

Recalls are the only thing that are compulsory.

    A thing or two...
With all your armor, you'd be better off with 650 or 700 lb springs. More preload makes for a stiffer ride.

Speaking of PP tax. I found out that Westmoreland county doesn't prorate, so I have to pay a full year of taxes even though I moved out of state before the end of April. :bananadead:
