@EatSleepTacos @ilubtimmyhos Searched around and the ARC3 Gases location in Manassas does onsite CO2 tank refills (including bringing your own tank in). Was quoted $25 for a 20lb tank.

A little far south for some of you, but I get mine filled at Aquia Pines campground on RT 1 in North Stafford. Also has a brew supply store in the campground... @ilubtimmyhos where do you get your grain/brew supplies from? Supposed to brew this weekend in Alexandria at my buddy's place, not sure what our plan is for the brew yet as we've both been swamped with work.

Is there a special reason why co2? Why not just fill them with oxygen?

 

co2 tanks will fill WAY faster than air compressors...at least that was what I learned doing some research earlier this year.

 

The CO2 is stored in the tank as a liquid allowing for more volume. For the 20lb tank I'm getting it should be good to airup 60 37" tires before needing to be refilled.

 

They'd be lighter if you used helium.

 

True but they would make a weird noise when driving down the road.

 

That’s a good price. I pay like $31 for my 15lb tank.

 

I wouldn't want to be carrying around a bottle of liquid or compressed pure O2. Personally, I'd got for N2 over CO2 if I was going to carry around a tank. Mainly because I already have a tank for my shocks and bump stops.
