I looked it up and it does seem like a good time, hopefully we get some good trial insights if yall make it and there'll be a renewed effort to get out there later this winter/early spring...that or twist someones arm to join if/when I can get out for a trail run!

 

Will be 27 years for me come March 2020! Only 10 more to go...

Buy back your military time as soon as you can. Otherwise the interest starts accruing. I bought back 20 years. Well worth it. Now I can retire at 56.5 years old without any penalties and almost 35 years of creditable FERS service.

 

Yeah seems like it is. Little brother was Navy then Corp of Engineers. Retired at 55. I’ll probably be 75 before I can retire. Plus he didn’t go in but one day a week and didn’t mind being non essential on snow days

 

I only have two years of creditable service because I was a reservist. I was a little stunned when I found that out. Either way, I'm still waiting for DFAS to send me the paperwork back. And then I have to wait for our nightmare of HR to do their end.

 

Couple more months.. hope to start next summer. Have to go through the reinvest first but man I'm stoked. Home, finally! And working a normal 7-330 gig.

 

I'm interested in tagging along for a short trip. My son will be visiting from CA, and I've been wanting to take him.

 

Checked with VDOT. It is FS road. The gates are shown on FS map as going to Skyline Dr so the ridge road has no gates. I suggest meeting at the BP station on rt29 in Madison.

It's not too bad... 100 hours still gives you two solid weeks and if you plan it around holidays it's a lot easier. Need to find a cool boss that lets you take a few mental health sick days a year too.

 

What time should we shoot for? Also, who all plans to go? (speak up!)
