Anybody have an inspection shop that actually aren't douchebags like the dealership. Not that I have any thing not road safe but I rather not go to a place that tries to fail you to make money hoping you'd do the work with them.

 

CCARS in Purcellville. (https://myccars.com/) I have found them to be very honest. We drive our vehicles for a long time, and they have given us helpful advice on what needs to be done vs. what could safely wait. They do Virginia Safety Inspections, but NOT Emissions inspections. I go someplace else for Tires and Emissions inspections.

In one of our early interactions, my wife took her van in because it was making a strange scratching sound when she turned in one direction. She had a tree branch stuck under the van! Removed with no charge.

Later, when there was a gasket leaking (on the 15+ year old van) they cautioned us that just replacing the one gasket would solve the immediate problem, but the various rubber components on the engine (ALL original) were going to start going. Given the condition and low mileage of the van we decided to have the engine completely redone (all new gaskets, hoses, and belts, top to bottom). They sent us to someone else to do the work who could do that kind of work better than they could.

I am going to take my Taco to a local dealer for a while, but I wouldn't take my older vehicles anywhere else.
