I can second the hair dryer, but caution against goo gone. I used goo gone on my 2016 when removing the decals, and it messed up the clear coat pretty good. I didn’t have an issue w/ Goo Gone... purposely didn’t use Goof Off because it is harsher... I didn’t let it soak, I just used it wipe up the adhesive and then used McGuires Quick Detailer to finish up.

 

Your paint must not be as "fragile" as mine was, haha! I basically did the same thing as you, but when I was done there was a significant haze in the clear coat. Took me about 3-4 passes with a polishing compound and elbow grease to fix it.

What steel are you talking about? Be careful about that.....There are many High Strength Steel(HHS) and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) parts on all vehicles now. These ARE weakened when:
1. Bent past a certain # of degrees
2. Bent to the point of buckling
3. Heat is applied to a certain temperature and/or for a certain period of time

 

I believe it’s mild steel doM tubing he’s referring too

I believe it's just mild plate steel, maybe half inch thick. It's on an aftermarket long travel LCA. That tip should be flush with the ruler.

 

Yeah, if it's an aftermarket lca, it's probably mild steel. Just to be sure tho @Darkgoatracer should check with the manufacturer to be sure before heating up a suspension part cherry red to bend it back flat. I'm almost positive that piece on an oem lca is not mild steel.

I have reached out to them with no response yet. I also intend on gusseting the bottom side with some mile 3/8" plate or something like that to add some extra strength in that area. I was actually going to ask you your opinion when it showed up, so this worked out well.
