I don't know about others but the mobtown one has mounting holes. You can kinda see in the second pic where it sits. It's angled down a little but definitely visible.

Jerry makes great things and helps out the community. +1 for him. And not knocking on Mobtown, because I have a few of their products as well

It ordered them like a month after I got my truck. Figured saving a hundred pounds or whatever it is was a good idea since I wasn’t planning on doing anything wild.

I wouldn’t say it was a bad idea but my skids are pretty best haha. The ifs skid is still in good shape other than some gouges but the mid skid isn’t happy haha. Part of the issue is that I’m still stock height so it’s easier to hit rocks and what not.

edit: I’d consider BAMF too. I’m a fan of what I’ve seen of his work online. The stuff he did after pelfrey was cool too. I just think those skids are way overkill haha. He built that for some very hard wheeljng

Kinda curious if a speed/stoplight cam would be able to pick it up given the angle...

As long as it is mostly to the front and mostly visible you should be good.

I didn't run a front plate on my work truck for like 3 years. Nobody ever said anything about it until I got pulled over drunk doing 98. And let's be honest, he was just looking to tack shit on at that point. Ah, youth. :bananadead:

Redlight cameras hit you from the rear (rimshot) and I think speed cameras do as well.

Yeah, I like that. There's a guitar maker on a guitar forum I'm on and it makes considering/buying his stuff way easier because I know there's "one of us" on the other end of the deal.

I'm doing wheels/lift last because I want to get some use out of the stock stuff, so I assume i'll be in the same boat. I may be doing the skids piecemeal because I want sliders ASAP, but we'll see.

What's Pelfrey? That's a bit before my time.

I don't think I'd ever wheel to the extent those skids would be necessary, but I'm a man who likes a little peace of mind and rolling in with that would certainly give it!

My first car while living here was a '12 Mustang GT and I got about 5 miles down the road from the dealer (Ted Britt) before I was told the license plate needed to be mounted and couldn't just hang out in the windshield. I see plenty of folks that do that, but alas...

Maybe it's tolls? I know there's something that allegedly gets a front pic, but that could just be a "proof of life" test for the driver, who knows.

at stock height I think you’ll be using your skids a little more. Aluminum is cool but more expensive. I should say I did order my skids and sliders during a Black Friday sale. One perk of aluminum is that they don’t rust(Still oxidize but it doesn’t eat away like rust), mine are have been unpainted which is nice.

pelfrey went bankrupt and did a lot of people dirty then talked shit about customers then disappeared haha. It was a train wreck.

Good lord. Is there a thread that summarizes that whole Pelfrey experience? How did BAMF factor in?

I'm torn between powder coating and painting it; leaning the latter because of ease and cost and something to do.

Also hoping a sale pops up in the next 48 hours for Father's Day...lol

I went steel over aluminum for sturdiness and sliding over rocks vs gouging into the aluminum and getting hung up on a hard hit.

I went powdercoated to get as much initial protection as I could in the nooks and grannies that I would not be able to see or touch up without removing.

Only thing that turns me off re: powdercoating is the cost. $90 is a hell of an add (for the BAMF, at least). How's the coating held up?

    tl;dr:

Pelfrey takes a bunch of pre-orders from customers

they file bankruptcy leaving a lot of people SOL

Their remaining inventory and tools go up for auction

BAMF and others buy the whole lot

They make right all that they can by fulfilling peoples orders and whatnot.

The TW community came together as a whole around that. A lot of companies offered deep discounts to those that were fucked.

That sounds like quite a customer service experience, holy shit. I hope if any of you were affected that you were made as whole as possible!

    Fathers Day or July 4th.

There is no more Pelfrey. BAMF bought their warehouse, and got the products back to the people that paid.

My bumper is from before all of that. :anonymous:
