How much did Hi-Flo charge? Did they use SST or aluminized pipe? Mandrel or crushed bends?

A few years ago, a company i was working with to set up some equipment requested a service activated on our servers. We said no, got in a lot of trouble for not doing what the customer asked, and then lied and didnt activate it anyway. Well, 7 out of 8 of their sites got hit with ransomware and had to shell out millions. Guess which one didnt?

Moral of the story: Only takes one mistake by network security to take down a company.

Yeah that makes sense. It was probably as simple as a dumb email haha. It also makes me realize how important contingency plans actually are.

Also why offline backups are so important.

Personal experience, it only takes one, but any company who can be entirely shut down by a single hack is up against an NSA red team type group or has a lot more than one hole. Sadly, cyber nearly always takes a back seat.

Even in government where things are fairly regimented, the number of times I've about face-palmed through my head for someone trying to just skip critical pieces is mind boggling.

The volume of data Garmin had would probably take longer than that IMO and it would have been a phased start-up as they brought up each silo. It also doesn't fix the issue because I'm guessing their logs were encrypted as well.

It's feasible they corrected this but in all likelihood, they paid. The volume of data to be restored and the time to react and verify was just too short from where I see.

    Interesting, Some honorable hackers then.

you’re definitely right about cyber taking a back seat though. I am definitely seeing it gain traction but it’s not even a fair comparison between cyber work and regular development/maintenance work as far as share of spending goes.

Gotta pay out the high profile ones because then you get a reputation of keeping up your end. People are less likely to pay when the ask is unreasonable or when you're known to not unlock their shit. $10M to Garmin is easily less than the cost of a full restore so they would be more likely to pay and since it's high profile with all the analysts accusing them of paying, the hackers go the rep of doing what they said they would do.

Alright more random moving giveaways because Goodwill wouldn't take it... anyone want some grey Uplift sit/stand desk legs? Just need a top and it's going to the dump Saturday morning otherwise.

Yes, it’s a Bestop. Should’ve clarified that it’s a soft top, not the company, Softopper lol

That's a horrible idea. What time?
So Tuesday @ilubtimmyhos put all those suspension parts I bought on my truck. I really, really like my truck now!

    Billy 5100's with 888's and heavy Dakar's.

    Before:

    After:

Gained about 2.5" up front and, if I read my tape measure correctly, about 3.25" in the rear. I had to put the steps back on for my wife. Now I just slide in, no more sitting down to get in the truck. Perfect!

Now the tires look too small...
