Let me know when and we’ll go check it out sometime. When you leave Blakey and make a left it’s got signs saying your entering SNP, but you will eventually hit a closed gate so I don’t bother. Blakey has a couple pretty technical off shoots if anyone wants to get squirrelly. If we do Blakey in “reverse” it’s 1 Hr and 15 mins from the fort valley country store. I try to end there and use the air compressor(because I don’t have my own yet)/buy a pass after I’m done wheeling. I’m coming 522>211 through Luray most times but can meet where ever the group is.

I'm coming from Alexandria, so wherever you want to link up is equal distance for me.

As for coms, I'm gonna be the bad guy and say I don't have any. Been waiting on the FCC to turn my $70 into a call sign for a little while. On top of that I have yet to grab a radio, but I might end up ordering a handheld.

Sam, you might want to check on the FCC again. I can't remember if it was instant or not, but it certainly didn't take a while.

    Makes me want another bike.

That said.. I’ve PMR many a time, never been to the Rapidan. Looks like a good ride in the country to get out on.

I figure I’m the furtherest coming outta Richmond.. from the house to the north end (I usually start) of PMR is 3 hrs. +/- for me pass and all. Nothing but a thing for either.

But the Rapidan does sound interesting.

We could all jump off at exit 6 and go towards town and meet you.

Nice suggestion; might have to check that out.

Most of us have portable units and should be able to get your reinflated. Could also grab my spare motorcycle one but that would take for ever to do car tires.

I have a ton of FRS radios and could bring one and we put you on a frequency that we are all able to get to. Or Amazon order a baofeng today get it by tomorrow if its one day for your area; those would be options. Not fully necessary most likely but nice to have. So you are furthest east; what time could you leave AL?

With you coming from RIC it might make more sense for all of us to maybe meet south in the Rapidan area and then all go north and do PMR last or even skip it? Thoughts?

Ever just sit around, drinking good beer, watching the full John Wick trilogy, and think to yourself, "What I really need is a Kel-Tec KRS?"

I start work most days at 0430, so just tell me when and where and I'll be there.

As for GMRS, was looking at these:
    https://www.amazon.com/GXT1000VP4-C...1&sr=1-1-849f3c3a-785c-4812-aab6-3d7cb06022f2

    https://www.amazon.com/BTECH-MURS-V...o&qid=1604948408&sprefix=gmrs,aps,151&sr=8-10

    https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-BF-F...io&qid=1604948408&sprefix=gmrs,aps,151&sr=8-8

I don't want to have any problems with going onto HAM frequencies, so that's why I was thinking of picking the Midland. But, if Baofeng isn't too complicated it seems to be a popular pick.

Yes, but replace the Kel-Tec with the Benelli M4

    Nope. KRS. Google it.

Not that I don't like Benelli, but I need to look a little more badass than that.

Edit: whoops, missed a quote. Just turned the heat on full bore at work and I'm dying.

my google fu doesnt seem to yield anything KRS with Keltec unless its a rapper we are talking about.

    https://www.amazon.com/Baofeng-UV-5...hild=1&keywords=baofeng&qid=1604964421&sr=8-5

is a cheap 5watt portable radio; use mine for the fire department and off roading.

Just came across this 3$ walmart FRS post:

I stand corrected. It is KSG. Which is funny because KRS was bringing up correct results. That's what I get for using Bing at work.

I appreciate it, I’m thinking about getting the smittybuilt 2781 portable air compressor for Christmas, on board is sweet but with the wife’s Jeep I like having the option to move it.

You are not the bad guy haha, I don’t have any either. This will be my first Taco meetup so I expect to walk away with a wish list. Didn’t realize you needed to buy a call sign from the FCC either... the to-do list increases.

The old Audi crew used to run all events off the FRS radios so the cheap baofeng is just a graduation from those and ham capable. Wish list/tools needed will grow fairly quickly once you start going to see what other people had done.

    PXL_20201109_235556548.jpg

If we are doing an all day event: Nick had mentioned to maybe grill but with corona etc I wanna say we would be better off packing out own sandwiches etc and find a neat spot along the route and eat outside. Any other suggestions?

Compressor update: Mine died. The other one I have won't work off the truck. I may hit Harbor Freight and grab a little one there.

Radio: I did the Amazon thing and hope to have it set up.
