    I should've opted for higher ceilings in my garage when the house was built, but I thought 11-feet would be enough. Live and learn.

    Grab some jacks, raise the building, add another layer of foundation. Shouldn't run ya more than, what, 15k for a $500 lift?

    this made me smile... when I was a teen, we built a garage with plans to build an apartment over it for future income in my parents retirement years. Dad and I dug the foundation by hand... not a great summer vacation, I caddied the concrete blocks for the mason, after the concrete block 30x30’ garage was built... Dad decided that the garage ceiling was too low.... as mentioned above... we then... long high screw jacks, two neighbors, Dad, little brother and myself, “raised the roof” methodically.... in order to add two or three more rows of concrete blocks that we should have done initially. Hard work, good memories...
