The LT axles space the boots pretty well from my experience. But the a/m ones I’ve tried dry rot and split around the large clamp.

There must be something in the water. Was on a joy rider yesterday afternoon and about wrecked my bike. Rear bearings went bad and felt like I slammed my brakes going 50.

Have you tried to dissemble it to see if there's it' a gasket or an O-Ring failing? It's hard to tell from the picture, but I've had several over the years and find that most leaks are related to the seals. If you trust the repair shops diagnosis then I would agree with the earlier comment to source the pump and take a stab at it yourself. Good luck!

I had a few helpers here earlier today and identified water seals as the most likely culprit. Ordered them today, should be here tomorrow. The biggest concern from what inwas told at the repair shop is not over tightening as the threads can pull out easily. Should know tomorrow or Sunday.

Glad you're okay. I don't bikes ride on the road, but I've ridden dirt bikes and it gave me a whole new perspective on the amount of control when on a bike. Its scary when you have to stop fast, sounds like you were thinking on your toes

Theres gotta be something up. My front calipers were kinda hung up when I got the 4runner off jackstands last week. Drove to work fine all week, but today driving from Baltimore to Mechanicsville, noticed coolant temps got up above the middle a tad and I pulled over. Initially thought my HG finally let loose or something, but noticed transmission temps were also on the high side. The calipers musta been straining everything and with traffic wasn't getting a lot of air flow, so I ordered a trans cooler from the side of the road and picked up the cheapest front calipers in stock to limp it until I can buy some ones that will last. Current stuff is cheap crap too from Firestone. Waited on the side for a bit, then Ez pass express lane at an undisclosed speed was able to provide enough air flow to keep things under 195* lol

If you don’t already have one, an ultragauge is great for monitoring actual temps vs going off of the dash. Also, if you ever find the engine heating up in slow traffic, put it in neutral and hold the rpm’s around 2500. The fan will move a bunch of air and the temp will rapidly drop.

Once I noticed it was a tad higher than normal, I stopped and took a closer look with torque pro on my phone. but something like an ultragauge would be nice.

I had a rear bearing go out on a harley when i was in korea about 10 years ago, fortunately I was able to coast to a stop though. Glad you're ok, must have left some pucker marks on the seat

Only problem I've got with my ultraguage is that I'm reading the torque converter temp as engine temp. Need to see if there's an updated formula to get a more accurate engine temp. It's good enough for government work, but I know it's not quite right.

Something is definitely going around. I was headed north to PA on 70 and my hood randomly unlatched….. thankfully I was able to get over and the secondary release didn’t let go as I was slowing down.
