Turns out one of the guys on my team is a hi-lift on the jeep hood kinda guy. Can't trust his judgement now

That is hilarious, because I think the same thing every time I see one. Also, folks running their ditch lights straight ahead or even at a slight upward angle. I mean, I guess they are using them as "driving lights"?

Edit: to ask if your reason is because it is on the hood, or the fact that he/she is using an hi-lift in the first place? :D

Hood mostly. I can see where a hi-lift would have benefit if the user knows how to use it safely, but agree a lot of people have them without knowing how to use one.

Hood is like literally the worst place to keep one. Direct sunlight bakes off/dries up all the lube on the climbing pins, and if you hit anything, then the whole metal jack becomes an afternoon snack

Yeah, it really is a terrible place, and that is my reason as well. Then I wonder if they do know how to use it properly because of the aforementioned questionable judgement, haha. It really is a lose-lose situation.

Yeah he had a front metal bumper, but the front sheet metal was fabricated/bent in a way that wouldn't make in convenient or safe to use up there. Plastic rear and no sliders either.

Might not need to borrow any wheels to test fit. Got some spacers coming in on Sunday, that will help my tires clear suspension. :fingerscrossed:
