That's a horrible idea. What time?
What do you think about FPK? Worth trying with the forecast temps?

Weather for the Knob is below freezing from today onward. Supposedly snowing there right now. So I would say it's a risk.

I always avoid FPK when it's cold due to ice

Was thinking the same thing. Peters Mill will probably be busy with the last open weekend. Which doesn't matter in the long run. Other ideas? There is a park out here I could check on. Pay to enter, day use, mixed trails.

I'm fine with something new. I just don't know what's out there. Paying to enter is fine by me.

a few things, and some vinyl....
sigh.... wife took the Tacoma on a weekend ski trip, and backed into something.... Right side of the rear bumper is slightly twisted up, and you can see where it just kissed the bed side when it got pushed in... Now to decide how much of it to actually fix.... grr...

Sounds like it's time for a high clearance rear bumper. (And hiding the wife's keys for a while.)

I can't think of other places. We got Canaan Loop Rd, Peters Mill, FPK, or if you wanted to explore in GWNF. Maybe Sleepy Creek trails are open?

1.5" of rain so far in western Loudoun. 8 more hours predicted. Heavy winds going to bring trees down. Flooding expected in low areas.

More heavy rain expected on Friday.

I've got this going on out front. This is normally a dry area.

I was looking at The Cove, but it appears they only allow non-ATV 4x4's for events. And it's $60 p/day if I read it correctly. I'll try and call in a bit.

We did Sleepy Creek pre-Covid and I think the trails are only open during hunting season if I remember correctly. And part of it was a mud fest then, a workout getting though. I can't imagine how it would be after all this rain / snow.

We did Peters Mill a few weeks ago, and I'd go again if that was the option. I think this weekend is the last one for the season. @crashdb - I want to find that pullout we stopped at when we took your Jeep out there. I looked last time but missed it.

I haven't been to Canaan Loop. It's 2.5 hours from my place near Winchester.

I think Mark, Dave, Bailey and I are going to FPK this Sunday, meeting at the reservoir at 10. And Nick might meet us at the reservoir to see if his LC can make it across

That truly sucks. I'll be headed to TN on Sunday for a few days. Scouting property.

It should be a little warmer. We've looked at a lot of houses trying to figure out what we want to do. I've only seen one house with snow on it and that was up near I-40.

We were supposed to get that last week. You remember the story of the little boy who cried wolf? I think he grew up to be a meteorologist.

Originally my buddy and I were gonna go camping this weekend and were looking to set up along Canaan Loop. Figured even with all the snow and ice, the route is not on the edge of the mountains vs FPK.

I haven't decided if I gonna go solo, but if I do it should give me a chance to test out the diesel heater I picked-up from @fatfurious2.

Let me know what y'all end up doing. If I end up deciding to camp in 30mph winds we might be able to linkup .
