Ingenious use of road signs for body armor and license plates as patch panels.

Aside from sweating my arse off cutting the grass, it's been pretty good so far. Although I'd rather be on a trail than at home.

    NOVA peeps:

Would you like a free set of 285/70/17 tires for free? Only have a few thousand miles on them.

What's the catch? Glad you asked.

    1. You have to grab them at the Fredricksburg Discount Tire on June 15. Probably late morning, early afternoon.
    2. These tires suck. They're considered a hybrid tire, but they're as loud as a MT. Maybe louder. When it gets cooler, they take forever to get heat into them, so you fight the wobble. Off-road, they're a huge disappointment.
They did balance out on steel wheels after having Road Force balancing done. So there's that.

If you want them, let me know and we can work it out. I cannot haul them home, so I really don't want to wait around at DT all day.

Just finished an eight day Utah-and-back excursion. Got humbled at Great Sand Dunes’ Medano Pass.

I’ve never done anything off road and wanted to see what’s what and sent the stock Sport on out there.

Some quick googling and reddit searches said a user was able to handle it in his stock 97 ranger so I ignored the signs saying “this is an air station, riders must air down to 20psi before continuing” and went on my merry way on my 41k mile stock tires at 30+ PSI.

I ignored the sign a couple of minutes into the pass saying “Point of no return, High clearance necessary.”

We drove into a wide turn with a bunch of trucks and jeeps pulled over— we saw a wrangler pulling a winch out to help a rider that was out of view around the bend.

It is at this point I look over to my girlfriend and say “If they’re pulling out anything remotely more capable than this truck we’re leaving.”

I get out of truck and go see what’s getting pulled— a 74-79 tan FJ cruiser in great condition with meaty-ass wheels; thing looks like it’s out of the Tarzan movie.

We popped a U-ey and left.

Anyways anyone got any tire recommendations? Trying to keep relatively similar mileage so I was thinking 265/70/17 either Wildpeaks or Ko2s

(the fj40s 4x4 shit the bed, front wheels weren’t spinning)

I'm running 265/70/17 KO2'S with kevlar on a 17x9 wheel on my 18 MT Sport. I think the width of the tire has been a key in my keeping up with some trucks with lockers. KO2'S are heavy, and I have seen a decrease in mileage of about 2.5 mpg. Running 60 mph to work I get 18-19. At freeway speeds I've learned not to look. 13-ish. I'm only running those because I kept blowing side walls on the trails here. Dueler Revo 3's were what I had before and loved them. Performed well in all conditions, except sharp pointy shale.

There is also a new KO3 out now. Haven't looked into them.

Current set up with KO2'S on 17x9 Bajas.

ok, i’ve definitely heard weight is the biggest factor. i averaged 22-25 on the road trip and probably get 17-21 committing to work (17 on the way, 20 on the way back since it’s downhill!)

i just hope to keep highway 20+. looks sick on those bajas!
