    Ok, 2 things,
First it's hilarious that on the main page the threads all have pics of trucks or parts then you see a pic w/ the gay pride sticker:rofl:

2nd For those of you with 4 runners for your wife, I need a little persuasion to get my wife in one.

Resistance is futile ... but can provide much needed friction.

Reminds me of the first few videos I posted on YouTube where YouTube would randomly select a screenshot from my video to use as the main pic for the vid ... which 9 times out of 10 just happened to be the split second that I reached up to scratch my nose.

If it were up to me it would have happened 2 weeks ago.
She's very indecisive, and has to research things for months.
Plus I'm shooting for the TRD PRO model.
    Go big or go home!

6,700 miles and not a single issue... I got the TSB done for the Transmission out of safety / better driving experience, but it wasnt out of necessity... fingers crossed.

this. haha every turd gen owner: :lalala:

dude... come check out mine... the wife LOVES it....

it's roomy, safe, and rugged.... we got the SR5 Premium and paid $37,000 out the door for it and it came w/ running boards, roof rack, leather, sunroof, heated seats, and nav..... it can tow, it can offroad, or it can take the kids to soccer practice. you have the option to add 3rd row seating, or toss the dog in the back cargo area since the back window rolls down.

the blind spots are minimal, they are easy to work on....

but here is the number 1 reason we went w/ 4Runner over all else (and a new one at that):
they hold their value better than almost any mass produced vehicle....

    new SR5 premium 4Runner: $35k - $37k
    used 5th gen 4Runners w/ 15k-30k miles on them are still $30k-$33k
Hell, even a 2010+ w/ 60k miles on it still goes for like $25k

I put $2500 into the 4Runner w/ the Toytec lift, TRD Pro wheels and 285s bringing my total amount of money into the truck around $40k... we have had people offer to buy it as it sits for $43k and it has 15k miles on it (we put it up for sale in Colorado briefly before my company told me they were going to pay to ship it for me)

a highlander is smaller, and doesnt have the resale or market appeal that a 4Runner has..... the 4Runner appeals to all buyers....guys, girls, 4x4 enthusiasts, and soccer moms....I look at all vehicles as an investment and I NEVER want to be upside down on one..... so far, 4x4 Toyotas have yet to let me down in that aspect

    I hope this helps.....

Plus..... they are SOOOOO much sexier than a highlander o_O

@chiefcrunchy I hope that helped... It was kind of long-winded for a forum post for me, but I'd be happy to elaborate or explain further details if you'd like

Agree with this, unless you are getting the a unique pro only color...shit get an SR5 and build it right. Damn the new runners are sick, that would be my go to if I ever wanted a newer Toyota. My pops kept trying to rationalize about getting a highlander because of the mileage it could achieve, but damn if those things arnt ugly no matter how many iterations they make. What other options is she considering?

Many reasons... not necessarily in this order.

The agency that I work for thinks they are more important than they actually are and the execs are a-holes to other agencies because they of that mentality.

My job is gaining me experience on paper, but in reality, not a lot.

It doesn't pay great, especially for this area, and being a single household income earner is killing me right now.

The only thing that benefits me with this job right now obviously other than a pay check, is it allows me the time to knock out school. I graduate in Nov. if I can maintain my pace, but I'm just worried about finding a job when I graduate. I want to leave this area and go somewhere else.

I could go on, but I'm tired of bitching now... I don't do it a lot.

This was our exact mentality. the SR5 Premium had all the options that she wanted (leather, sunroof, heated seats, and navigation)

so she was like "I dont care about crawl control or a hood scoop" so I told her I'd buy her a Trail or Pro, but there would be no money for a lift kit...

so we opted for that and I have zero complaints.

I have worked for 4 different 3 letter intelligence agencies and I hate to tell you, but all agencies have a similar mindset.

But I totally get everything else.... I'm also the sole earner for my family.... the wife stays at home with the baby and we're even talking about having another one....What contracting company do you work for (if you dont mind my asking?) and my company (DigitalGlobe) has been excellent to work for... they pay is pretty solid (especially for me not having my degree yet) and they will bump me up 10% when I finish my degree later this year or early next year... plus they paid for my move from Hawaii to DC (and even paid to break my lease at my Hawaii house)

what other area are you trying to go?

I know all agencies are like that, but the agency I work for is not intel and has nothing to do with homeland security. Not important as they think they are. lol

I work for a small contractor called Excalibur Associates. It's a great company, but the pay is not that good for the area.
