Really leaning towards it, I know with this battery it will never let me down, hopefully lol. You guys think it’s overkill for my application? I’m not running any winch, fridge and etc, just an aftermarket audio equipment with about 1200 watts rms.

Meh, no one will mind. As for being "overkill", perhaps. But you'll never have to check specific gravity or add water ever again and the terminals will never corrode.

Think I’m going for it, battery died on me yesterday, had to get jumped. I only had the radio on for about 20mins during my break, without starting truck.

NorthStar batteries was formed by the company that made the ORIGINAL and EXCELLENT Optima batteries. They sold the company and formed Odyssey Batteries. The sold Odyssey batteries and formed NorthStar batteries. The problem was when they sold the companies the new owners started cutting costs and made an inferior battery compared to what they were before the company was sold. Both Optima and Odyssey batteries have suffered this fate. I still have a rather HUGE Odyssey battery in two of my snow cats and they sit for 8 months with no use and then start right up even after 12 years! The newer Odyssey batteries won't hold that kind of reliability. Fast forward to NorthStar batteries. When one of the "next generation cheap owner" Odyssey batteries prematurely died (I was a bit shocked after just two years in my Government Tacoma) I went back to the same shop in Anchorage I bought it from. They covered the battery but suggested I get a NorthStar battery. Great customer service on their part, crappy batteries on Odysseys part what a shame. I hear the same about Optimas as well. Anyway after 300K on the Tacoma it was passed off to another team. I talk to them and they tell me that Tacoma is still going strong. Almost 500K! 2009 Taco with a manual trans and 4.0 V6. Thats why I bought my Tacoma. Anyway go with NorthStar if you want one of the best batteries out there.

I mean good info, and you're not wrong, I would also add that Batteries Plus line of "X2 Power" batteries are just rebranded North Stars and carry a phenomenal no questions asked free directly replacement warranty on them.

Also if you have a 27F and want a Northstar I would advise you to get a 24F as they're still more powerful and have more Amp Hours than a factory lead acid but even the smaller Northstar 24F is heavier than the stock 27F and the Northstar 27F is even yet again heavier which can lead to tearing of the sheet metal for the battery pan, if you need a larger battery do a dual battery set up and position the second closer to the firewall on the PS side.

Mine from when I did the SDHQ battery terminal upgrade, well worth it especially if you have accessories.

I put an x2 power 24f in my truck this week since the oem battery was over 4 years old. Once I got home I fully charged it on my noco charger and I don’t think the truck has ever cranked as fast on startup as it does now.

I have been busy on the Tacoma build. Last week I ordered a North Star 27F. Or actually a Battery Plus version X2. Should be in by Wednesday. We tried to instal a 31? series X2 but is was to tall and the terminals were more centered so it just would not fit. 27F it is then. Will post pics.

The 27F flavor of these batteries is VERY capable.
