Northwest Fishing Meets & Fishing Buddy Thread

Anyone know of decent alpine lake fishing you can drive up to?

 

Any tips/suggestions for a novice fisher in Oregon? I've been thinking about getting into fishing but not sure where to start.

 

I caught my personal best smallmouth on the Snake river today. Almost a pound and a half.

 

I wish I could help you with your question. I spend most of my time out in the salt. Maybe @scifidelity can give you some recommendations.

 

It sure how many people are in this thread or what the age ranges are but I’m 30 and haven’t been fishing since I was young. Now that I got my Tacoma I’m really looking in to getting back in to fishing and taken trips in the truck and doing some fishing. Would be interested in tagging along if possible.

 

The only ones I know of are hike in. Pretty glad that no one can drive to the ones I visit, but I do see th utility in having a few you can drive to. For a similar experimence, try lake crescent on the OP. Monster trout, mountains come right out of the lake.

 

There's lots of places in the state, what kind of fishing do you want to do?

 

I'm sure there is a wide range of ages on this thread and we all love to fish. Where are you located? I too would like to take ra road trip and fish with anyone here.I just don't know where to go. Let's meet up and BBQ and catch some fish.

This information is already available from the WDFW, but it's just a list of overstocked lakes which makes it really hard to plan a trip. This lets you see the geo location. The WDFW WANTS people to fish there and even encourages people to harvest the daily max whenever possible. Overpopulation is super hard on the fishery and surrounding environment.

Had a easy day of limits in Area 10 for resident coho. They are not like the big boys that I fish for in September but still fun and great on the grill.

 

Those things are fun on a fly rod!

 

Yeah I’m all about some BBQ, BEER & fishing ha I’m located in Everett 30 minutes North of Seattle.

 

Dude, check out free fly fishing classes at Orvis. I've done a ton of rod & reel fishing in my life but have always wanted to try flyfishing. Their classes are great. 101 is learning to tie knots, set up your pole, and casting. 201 and 301 are at a lake and a river respectively, trying different types of rods, weights of line, and actually catching fish. Its a good combo of knowledge and hands on.

 

Matter of fact if anyone wants to do a taco & fly fishing half day in the Portland area let’s get one organized. Perhaps the clacksmas river, unless anyone knows of a cool easy trail (for those of us who are all stock) we could drive & then fish. Mollalla river & recration area would be another option.

 

Would love to come along if you guys plan on doing anything on Saturdays or Sundays. Located in Tacoma, WA and I’ve recently just started fishing (got my combo license last month). Would love to learn some pointers from you guys!

Those are the days I typically go fishing. I have never fished the Tacoma area but willing to make the drive and try out a new place. I like to fish for salmon, steelhead, and trout.
