hmmm, interesting. That handheld radio he posted is the same exact one I have as well. You should just buy one and we'll figure out how to program it to the same frequencies that the race radio uses.

I just ordered one from Amazon the other day and ordered a USB cable to go with it. From what I was reading there is a program you can download for free called CHIRP that makes it stupid easy to program these things. I will find out after I get the radio Friday.

The part I was trying to figure out is which frequencies they transmit on, and ended up doing some more digging into the whole race radio thing.

It can be whatever is best for snow / Walker / Reiter / tahuya. I was looking at both st maxx or grappler mt or STT pro. It would probably be best to be in D range?

D range would definitely be better than E. I love my trail grapplers a lot, @Skootter14 runs them in 35" and loves them too. Nitto is a great MT tire, ST maxx is a good MT/AT mix, really good AT but "okay" MT. As for STT pro's i've heard mixed things... I know they run really small, side walls aren't the strongest either and their snow performance is meh. @dakotasyota ran them on his cummins and didn't like them at all.

Not sure if I’ll go with a different tire for a LOOONG time. I freakin love the trail grapplers for offroad. (Key word is offroad. They are not bad on road but I bought them...and DD them...for their offroad capability)

EDIT: They are also E rated

Hit Walker Valley today with some friends and had a great time! Cruiser performed amazing as usual ;)
First trail.. didn't get any (clear) pics of me on it but heres what started as a third gen runner..
    IMG_0425.jpg

Then went and hit the V notch.. as usual, cameras don't do justice and was much steeper than it looks. So steep my power steering fluid overflowed out the filler :notsure:

Did you get a cable to program it? If you didn't and I ever get mine you can borrow it, I already downloaded the CHIRP program and it looks stupid easy to load it with tons of channels that way. My radio and cable were supposed to show up last Friday but Amazon is slacking apparently, hopefully today or tomorrow.

I’m currently just using the antenna it comes with. Through dense trees that gave us a reliable half mile range. As for the rugged radio I mounted in my cruiser it comes with a 3ft whip that’s supposed to have a 10-12 mile range

Damn it when did someone post that?? That looks identical to mine except that has a large digital screen and a key pad on the mic.. which I wish mine had. I feel like an idiot now haha
Doesn’t look like it comes with an antenna though
