ADS is another fast moving vendor. Gaining a lot of steam in this community. Local company to me here in AZ.

If I were to get a new truck and lift it I'd seriously into ADS for sure but I do love my King's.

The only opportunity that ADS has is that there is really only one guy down there that knows these shocks. They are still a small company and don't have a fully staffed support group like King.

At least that was the situation a few months back when a local guy bought some for his runner. Ended up going down there and having them fabricate mounts and get the sizes all sorted out. After that though, he beats the shit out of those ADS.

Oh okay.. That is a downside but everything I've read about ADS says they are the best. Once they grow im sure they will be a huge competitor

100% agree with this! They will be a huge!
But for now, King has the title.

I will say that after last weekend's 20miles in 8 hours Expo trip I'm so very in love with my front setup. The rear is still lacking but these valved Kings were like butter in the rough.

They are! I still find myself sometimes bracing for potholes/bumps and then barely feel it. On the last trail I went on the group couldn't keep up with Dakota and I, we didn't think we were going that fast but apparently we were.

Same situation this last weekend for me. I was keeping pace with the Heep in front of me. He had the benefit of running this trail a bunch, wheel base and weight. Between my truck, driving and my spotter we were keeping up.

It makes sense for you since your in SoCal! A ton of people up here still run them but my preference is King. A guy up here actually just took a ride in a truck with Icons and a truck with Kings and said he could actually feel a difference, so the people that say "you aren't going to notice a difference anyway" are wrong. Granted it was on the street but still.

Just wondering how much travel you have with your MT setup compared to the 12" that the race kit says it has? From what i read a decent MT setup will yield 9-10" of travel, why take the hit for an extra 1-2"?

I saw your truck in another thread and loved it!! The color is perfect in my opinion! I was thinking about having my tent fold out the back but decided against it. I love my canopy but it puts the tent to high for my liking, on off camber spots it makes me a bit nervous.. Also since its above the cab branches are always hitting it so I want it to be lower.

I don't think it is just the 50# dif in spring rates. A local member here just rebuilt a few sets of Icons along with a revalve. He made some comments about how thin he felt the construction of the internals are on the Icons. So much so that he will not recommend them to anyone.
Again, when I had my last build I had Icons and they were nice and a huge upgrade over what I had prior. But now with this new build and Kings I won't go back to Icon. No way I would want to take my old build where I just was last weekend.

    This is my 2c

Thats what I thought to but @dakotasyota explained it to me a while ago and I don't remember it all.. It was something like I have more up travel than he does but with LT you get a lot more droop, something like that..
Hmm thats interesting, i've heard that the internals of Icon were pretty strong :notsure: oh well good to talk to someone who ran them and switched, you actually have full experience with both.

I decided not to because I thought it would make it a little bit of a hassle to get things in/out of the back when the tent is open because the ladder would be right in the middle. Plus then I'd have to cut the rails on my tent and wouldn't be able to switch back unless I bought new rails.

Looks like I should be going with Kings next time  Hey for you guys with enough cash check the 2nd gen buy/sell page and someone just put up a Garage Sale thing. Can't tell if its a +2 kit but the thread has some pretty good stuff.

Yeah, i was looking at LT, but I can build a MT with UCA/LCA and Kings and leaf pack for about 1500 less than an LT kit. Just don't understand why 2" of gain is worth $1500.

Great looking truck! Love your set up! And @rondog I have the same shell and similar tent. My husband and I, along with our two dogs (Border Collie and German Shepherd) slept nicely up top. Felt very stable!

Problem is its just the uppers and lower control arms, which means i'd have to buy the rest of the stuff that would come in the kit.. Its so many things I'm not sure..

Thats what I thought to when Dakota got his LT but after he explained it, it made sense. Its definitely more than 2" of travel because I lift a tire pretty quick and he doesn't.
